Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

If you look at their overall stats their is a case to be made for both (conca has the edge on tackles, Llyod on goal, lots of the other key stats and relatively close) ... but one player has been dropped twice and the other has played every game

There is a reason for that.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Very poor number of pressure acts by Conca yesterday. By far the worst of the midfielders, only 21. This is really a non negotiable for a player like Conca who is not generally dangerous with his disposal. Was also led a merry dance by Gresham when on him. He'll be looked at closely for sure at the selection table.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Didnt realise how bad he was till i watched it on tv.
Roo's highlighted how bad he was all game.
Just get rid of him.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Not supporting Conca here as I thought his disposal was poor yesterday but I do see what snakey sees in that he's the first to be bagged. His disposal was no worse than Ellis who's disposal was also nothing short or garbage, but the vitriol is far greater in here against him.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

What his critics seem to miss is that all the bash and crash he does in packs means the Chimpion is running on top of the ground because he doesn't have to do it.

Ellis wasn't much better. 1 contested possession (what the...) but last week Ellis couldn't get a game and only had a recall due to a late change. Probably not the guy you want to be comparing your game against.

You haven’t noticed the chimps contested work this year? Doubt he has modified his game because conca is in the thick of it.

Conca is hard at it but not sure how much his impact has freed up the chimp, and indeed if a guy like miles may not have performed a similar if not better job.

Chimp's contested work is always great, Jazz, but he's spending less time getting smashed in packs because Conca's doing it. Miles can do it and did for a couple of years but he can't run. Liability on the spread, hence he doesn't get a game.

2018 average score involvements-
Conca 5.7/game
Lloyd- 4.0/game

disposal efficiency:
Conca- 70.4%
Lloyd- 66.3%

If your point is that Conca should join Lloydy at VFL level, I agree.

Conca's disposal efficiency is also greater than Cotchin and Martin this year but only brainless dodos would make the argument that Conca uses the ball better than Dusty or Cotchin or Lloyd for that matter.

Reece is getting 8 contested possessions a game. He is a bigger body so maybe he’s creating a bit of space as well, his contested ball numbers aren’t big for an inside mid.

Understand the reasons miles does not get a game. It’s a pity as he’s a terrific footballer.

That efficiency difference is purely a factor of less contested ball for conca. Agree with the last sentence too.

I think this is a little over-played. There is no doubt Miles spread is not the best but when you're being asked to play purely inside mid and extract then this area is going to suffer. A couple of VFL games ago Miles was given instruction to spread more and found himself receiving a lot of ball in the forward half. He's been working on it and I personally can't see the negative in playing him ahead of a couple of others getting games. We were smashed in the midfield to half way through the third quarter. Last year against the Suns he had 23 disposals, 13 contested, 8 tackles, 8 clearances, an 82% disposal efficiency rating in only 75% game time. Played 66% the next game and then was dropped. I am however resigned that Miles won't get a game unless say both Cotchin or Martin are out.

Struggles to be smart with the ball, got towelled by Gresham for extended periods but still has defenders.

Was he supposed to be on Gresham?

Miles basically doubles Conca in contested ball over their career yet has less clangers and a higher disposal efficiency.

That is why the Miles fans rate him do highly. Without the jazz hands of Shed he still creates order out of chaos. Amazingly clean and effective in traffic. The exact opposite of Conca.

it what the haters are saying, but look at the replay and you will see Conca was not lined up on Gresham for a single goal.

It's true lamby. But it's also true that only brainless dodos discount or fail to see his strengths and overstate and obsess about his weaknesses.

Spoken like a true fanboi. Just a quick perusal of my posts on the last few pages of this thread exposes the nonsense of your post.
