Conca had him for large portions of the last half. And midfield depth? Not sure Conca is spending that much time there. Would like to see that split. For his current role play Markov.

Across the season he's getting 53% of his possessions behind centre and 47% forward of centre.
Yesterday 66% of his possessions came behind centre. 1 possession in defensive 50, 4 inside forward 50. The other 16 came between the two 50m lines.

His efficiency was 57% Yesterday. Including yesterday's game, he's 70% for the season.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Conca played a fair bit of time in the second half at half back after Vlastuin went forward.

One aspect of the stats that was interesting from the game is Time on Ground. Of course heaps of the guys spent heaps of time on ground due to the injuries. An amazing number of on ballers spent 90 minutes or thereabouts on the ground. Dusty and Cotch were mid 80’s.

Conca spent less time on the ground than everyone except McIntosh. Even Higgins Menadue and Graham were on for more than them.

Wonder if pennies have dropped about the 2 of them.

That they work the hardest so need more breaks? I think the coaches have always known this.

McIntosh has had low game times for a while now; 71,77,68,79,68,68 in last 6 games. Conca too has had a few games with lowish game time percentage; 74,75,82,74,69,80 in his last 6. To me they're being used as utility players filling the need as it arises during a game. This is why I think both their spots are vulnerable.

No one is asked to play purely inside mid. More to the point, no one is allowed to, in our side. Because the ball is outside way more than it is in, even in today's congested game. Miles can use his smarts to find space to get a kick, but he cannot keep up when the baddies have the ball.

I am saying that in the past he has played purely inside mid, the extractor. I agree, now moreso than ever you need to be able to spread but it is true that most of those that are specialist inside mids are not as strong on the spread, and there are many top quality players in that mould. Why did the Tigers get back into the game against the Saints? Mainly because we started winning the contested and clearances again. This is first and foremost more important than the spread. No point spreading if you aren't getting the first use of the ball. All I am saying is that Miles isn't as bad on the spread as some make out, I've personally seen it.

He puts his head in the hole & can extract the footy. That's his number one asset.

That's going back to 1989, so what? How about the other 'assets' you require to play the game. Like kicking and handballing.
Trade him to freo, get pick 40 back and off load it to the doggies for Wallis

I'd say its about his only asset. He's not quick, he's not smart, he's not a great kick, he doesn't seem to read the play particularly well. I think he'll get a game next week and eventually as guys like Rioli and Prestia get fit and if C Ellis and Markov improve he'll be forced out, and we'll be a better team because of it. Danny Frawley used to play blokes on heart and that lead to players like Tim Fleming getting games.

Stuck records at 10 paces

I'll give you the kicking. But he is definitely not slow, reads the play fine as evidenced by his involvement, and has one other key strength, evasion in traffic.

Good first half tonight.

Tackle on Zaharararararraaakaaars with Nank was awesome. 200KG onto one shoulder... Ouch!

Yep. Good game Concs.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Concs getting stuck in. love it.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

He is having a good game tonight 12 touches and 4 tackles to half time 1 better than Heppell

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

By Conca’s standards he’s having a good average game.
