Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

It was Conca moving back which allowed Vlastuin to go forward.
Conca was basically the match winner.

Nice. Throwback to the old school hardcore days of defending whipping boys like Luke McGun.

Made fundamental errors today. Position in the team at risk.

He wasn't on his pat malone. As usual, because of what he brings compared to others who made errors, posi not at risk. Happy to take bets. 8-

Yin and Yan. Conca allows Gresham to kick 3 and Flossy gets them back. Balance. Peace out!

You just bag him every week regardless of how he plays. Nuanced analysis it ain't t 8-

Don’t confuse me with others ts. I like Reece but he was poor today no question.

Wasn't great but half the side was poor. He's always the first targeted on here though.

Id love to see the replay. Didn't seem as bad as the carry on to me, but I'm biased of course. 21disposals 2 marks 3 tackles. Mid range on the stats and as always, in the clinches

Started the season strongly but has tapered off. Will be 26 soon and should be at the peak of his powers.

Hasn't tapered. You're just going by your opinion of his game today, and we can agree he wasn't one of our best, and the side has tapered of late. He is the whipping boy.

I've been supportive in the past but balance doesn't cut it with Fanbois. He'll stay because he fits what the coaches want. So most likely will Graham even though he cant find the ball or stop his opponent finding the ball.

However even when I was defending Conca he was an absolute disgrace with ball in hand.

A few neutrals are picking upon his errors today because Roosy highlighted them. He however does it week after week after week.

I was hopeful continuity might help but so far it hasn't.

Snakey, I sponsored the kid and have posted lots of positive things in this thread about him. I'm not saying he's a dud, but there was less *smile* in my 15 month olds nappy tonight at dinner, than Conca produced in today's game.
His poor disposal directly led to 3 passages of play that ended in Saint goals. He was putrid.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Staunch defence of Reece is admirable ts. However he was also part of a midfield group that failed last week.

But you are right....we have a few that are down on their best atm. Needs to change as we have a tough block of games coming up.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Even the mighty premiers Richmond occasionally field players who are VFA class (eg Sam Lloyd).

Reece Conca is not one of them. He's an AFL player who has the odd bad game.

This was one of them.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Yet the VFA player can kick and the AFL player can't.

He miskicks plenty at each level, Robert. Lloyd, that is.

At VFA level Conca can run around with the ball, bouncing it and breaking tackles for five minutes before kicking a behind or bombing it to three of them.

Conca will be much better with the ball, at AFL level, next week. And Sam will have to relearn values at VFA level. He has completely forgotten them before noon.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

I am OK with Lloydy at VFL level Jack and I know there are three phases of play and Conca might edge Sam at defending the ball and maybe winning ball but using the ball Lloyd is in a different stratosphere (even though probably average AFL quality)

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

How do I get nswtiger to take up the cause for Miles?

Miles, Miles, Miles, Miles, Miles Miles Miles Miles Miles Miles.

2018 average score involvements-
Conca 5.7/game
Lloyd- 4.0/game

disposal efficiency:
Conca- 70.4%
Lloyd- 66.3%

He's a whipping boy becasue his decision making and kicking are truly awful. He has other important skills, but decisive, classy football are not among them.

If you look at their overall stats their is a case to be made for both (conca has the edge on tackles, Llyod on goal, lots of the other key stats and relatively close) ... but one player has been dropped twice and the other has played every game
