Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

You may not be able to "teach" smarts but imho game time & experience can help you "learn" them.

Reece has had a lot of interruptions to his career through injuries, hopefully he can have an extended run of games to help him "learn smarts"

Very interesting stats averages so far for the year, makes good reading:

5.6 Tackles a game, clear second to Jack Graham on 6.1, Cotch 3rd on 4.9

8.1 Contested possessions, equal 5th with KL, behind TC (14), DM, TN, AR

2.5 clearances, equal 5th with KL and Shed, behind DM, TC, TN, JC

1 centre clearance, 6th behind DM, TC, TN, SG, DP

3.5 Inside 50s, 7th (or 5th 8-, behind DM, TC, 3 way tie KL, SE and SG on 3.8, JR

1.5 frees for, third behind, how is this for company, AR and DG.

Killing it, entrenched in the top 10 in a lot of the stats that really matter.

He's actually not too bad in disposal efficiency either, 12 at 73.85% but made more impressive by his contested possession count where you're more likely to have a lower disposal efficiency (he's equal 8th in contested by the way not 6th - Prestia and Lloyd are higher). I don't think Conca going too badly atm, not a silky player but if he just works within his limitations he does ok.

You've gone from baggathon to backhand compliments so that's progress. He is playing well. hardness is what we're about and he brings it. missed that re Dion and Lloyd, but Lloydy has only played 2 games so you're splitting hairs.

Cant teach an ol' dog new tricks. But he keeps on keeping on. I really hope that the more game time he gets, he just improves.

You have not listed his disposal clangers .

Not baggathon, realathon judgement based on games he plays. Not much has changed, I still see Conca as a potential fringe player when all our players are available. I thought it good though to highlight his relatively good disposal efficiency in light of contested disposals (which for some reason you have stated a backhand compliment???).

Umm, Lloyd has played 4 games. You really need to brush up on your factual research. You've been wrong A LOT. Lloyd may be gunning for Conca's position actually. Against North, he had 13 contested possies from 74% game time, Conca had 11 from 82% game time. That's what I love about the Tiger team atm, very hot contest for positions. All of Conca, Graham, Lloyd, Higgins vying for similar spots.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

playing well so i probably went way too hard and early but he needs to handball more his kicking lets us down

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

Typical week from Conca.

Solid game, in the bests. Haters still calling for him to be dropped.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

What worries me with Conca is him going down early with an injury in a crucial game, eg finals. I know that has nothing to do with selection (unless he is sore or tight and seen as being at risk of injury, in which case in a big game I wouldn't want him out there)

Dumbest man in yellow and black. Costing us the game.

You’re judging him on his ability.
Judge him on his possible potential and his a star.

Re: Reece "2018 Whipping Boy" Conca

21 disposals, only 12 efficient and 8 turnovers. Pressure wasn't huge against a bottom club. Only 96 tackles in total in the game. Not great.
