Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Not his best game but his defensive pressure was high as always. Also had 5 score involvements from his 11 disposals. For a guy who doesnt spend much time forward (and supposedly terrible disposal) his score involvements are high.

Watched the replay and Conca was forward a lot, particularly at ball ups. Just couldn't get into it. Thought he had a really good first quarter though.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Got blitzed by Sidebottom early. Was scrappy with the ball.

Started in the midfield, then went back and played 69% game time.

Reckon he goes this week.

;D

Nice game. Stepped up to be a key contributed in the engine room with cotchy out. Good stuff.

Yep. Fingers crossed he keeps on keeping on. Would love for the Concareter to get an uninterrupted run at playing the game. Glad he got a sausage late, it's been a while since he fronted the feast.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

The odd poor option from time to time but playing very good football. Elusive (not as elusive as Edwards) and runs all day.

Backs up why he went #6 if this form continues.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Starting to have better awareness when on ball and prepared to put his body on the line. credit to him and the conditioning team to get his body right for good footy

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Another good game from my man Reece. Clearances, tackles, inside 50s, 1%ers, all in a days work. Good in the clinches in a tough game when Dusty was held.

What the heck have you been smoking!???? He is a terrible footballer. Yeah he crashes into packs and has a decent tackle but when he has the ball in hand he is horrid. Always runs to the wrong spots to receive ball and continually turns the ball over at the worst time in the worst part of the ground. Would rather Miles every day of the week.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

11 contested , equal 2nd in clearances , his a bit like Graham in there playing a defensive mind set role and a both important parts of the midfield rotation.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Started in the midfield, got moved out again after things when south. Didn’t make the distance from a set shot 45 meters out and hit the man on the mark on another occasion. Aside from that he had our equal third most contested possessions.

He’s actually done some useful stuff, but we are giving him some very stat friendly roles. If he’s going to be a midfielder he needs to be better that decent in his best games and bad in his poor ones.

My gripe is the optiminty cost of playing him in midfield, we are crying out for another proper inside mid... we have one.... but we won’t play him.

Stats friendly roles? seriously? starting him the guts? That is some seriously bizaare spin right there. Desperate stuff. serious? week after week, in the engine room. clearances, 1%ers, tackles, inside 50s. always a couple of clangers to go with it, like a lot of good players, but the that is all some see.

I think you're mixing up cost and benefit. 8-

don't forget the tackles and 1%ers Mr B, he's always in the best for those even when he has a quiet game. Loved the big vice like tackle on big Majak and free kick.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

great with the tough stuff but some of his disposal is diabolical.

Did he go with Cunnington at all today. Seemed like Chimpy was playing on him most of the time.

Maybe Conca should just try to mold himself into a Jacobs like tagger.

Yep, there his strengths , that’s what makes this such a good side, all 22 have jobs to do and most weeks most of them get them done, the entire midfield can’t all be pure attacking players like Martin. Most importantly his body is holding together and his playing some solid footy and should only get better with rare continuity in his footy.
