Still a hard inside mid, who is doing his job. Not a great day, but form had been good. That 50 though ???
Conca doing his job would be nice, but his disposal costs more than 'doing his job' creates. He's bloody awful to watch.

I quite enjoyed watching that get between 2 opponents and give to Dusty for his final Q goal. I generally love watching him scythe through traffic actually.

Trade-able if we don't play him.

well, yeah. But we're playing him. I'm a fan, but he's trade-able, play or not play.

He's scything through traffic? I'll have to watch again - I'll go watch the tape of his one clearance.

Scything through traffic is what he does. He might not have done it much yesterday, and he might shank the odd kick after he does it, but that is what he does, and that is why he is kept in the side. (he also tackles, but the scything is the thing)

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

A step backwards yesterday for Reece after some good performances. Still keeps his spot for next week at this stage

Think there's more scathing than scything.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Not his best game but his defensive pressure was high as always. Also had 5 score involvements from his 11 disposals. For a guy who doesnt spend much time forward (and supposedly terrible disposal) his score involvements are high.

Rance had 5 score involvements as did Houli. Broad had 4. Just sayin'. Big one was metres gained, only 32, that's 1/10th of his normal output. Wasn't great.

If Reece stepped backwards he would have fall over.

Hehe. Brodders getting it wrong again. McGuane esque.

Looked a little less of a gun this week. I'd almost guarantee Miles would have provided better output than Conca. Or even Lloydy.

He has been better the previous few games but essentially is the last mid picked at this point.

Martin/Cotchin/Prestia/Lambert/Graham all in front of him as mids.

Caddy/Edwards in front as mid/forwards.

Kmac/Grigg are wings.

We have a plethora of backs.

We want D Rioli in when he gets back. Ideally he would be starting to get some midfield time, obviously dependent on his fitness.

Butler played a little higher up the ground on Sun, not a centre square mid but started off half-back a number of times.

It's either Broad or Conca out for mine once Rioli is back. Broad does provide extra versatility to defence though.

Maybe even Houli, although his running to space is phenomonal. Just got back to the hospital handpass mode this week.

Towner is also gonna struggle to get back in IMO.

Re: Reece "Skills" Conca

Supercoach/ranking points are usually a decent (semi) objective guide.

35 points to Conca - not great. That's what you expect from a first game rookie.

Is that the Jazz Footy Guarantee? Don't reckon my bank would take it somehow.

seriously though, yeah he was quiet. To quote John Wayne, 'too quiet'. But its interesting, obviously I'm a fan, and watching the game I thought his output was down but he was still involved, and at some key times, didn't think his possession number seemed as low as it actually was. Then tigerlove posted his pressure rating, whatever that is, was second only to Graham for us.

Look, I'm gunna say it all over again. To channel Dimma, could he get the ball more? yes, especially yesterday. He usually hovers around the 19-20 possession mark, I'd like to see it up at 23-24 consistently. Could he shank less kicks? Yes. But firstly its overstated by the haters, and secondly he is getting the hard ball and getting it forward, it suits our game plan. So I'm a fan, and I acknowledge his weaknesses. But the thing that gets me is the baggers can't see or refuce to acknowledge his strengths, which happen to be premium strengths. The baggers just go 'shanked kick, useless' as if he's Morris or Howat et al. Total lack of balance. And it gets back to what are my perennial peeves with PRE, some people have to have someone to bag, and some people expect every player to be a complete footballer, a star.

Anyway, keep on baggin' I guess.
