Jeez, you'd have to run a poll on that one. I'd also add Lennon over Cripps, Vickery over Ziebell / Sidebottom and Griffiths over Fyfe.

As for butchered trades I'd have knocking back Enright, pick 16 & 32 for Ottens as the worst of the lot. Trading out of the 2001 draft for Stafford must also rate as a crime against humanity. Just going over the selections I have never seen a club nail their picks like Geelong did - Bartel, Kelly, Johnson & Ablett is a fair haul. Biddiscombe for pick 8 (Jude Bolton) is also noteworthy as is trading for McMahan with the pick eventually going on Callan Ward.

Agree with Lennon over Cripps. It's not Tambling or Fiona-esque but think it'll be worse than Conca over Heppell.

Lennon over Cripps is easily worse. Lennon hardly looks like he'll play. I'm sure some pretty handy players went after C Ellis too.

Same with Fyfe. It will happen again.

But Heppell was a gimme pick.

If Fremantle or any other any team had any inkling at all they would have picked him with their first pick. As would everyone else. The fact is that no-one thought he was going to be the player he turned out to be as happens time and time again both in a positive and negative sense.

Heppell was a lot more predictable as has been said. Looked good is good.

Geelong did an amazing job for a few years there but I don't they can take credit for Ablett. Or Scarlett or Hawkins for that matter.

Re Conca: touted by all (except Frank) as being a second rounder.
Heppell was a soda, a gimme, a pick impossible to fluff, but FJ found a way.

Even more RFC like is that FJ's still on the payroll.

Fyfe probably but Lennon over Cripps looks pretty criminal. Doubt Carlton would have taken Lennon if the picks were reversed.

And yes, Melbourne's record at the top is poor until StKilda helped them by taking McCartin.
