To cut a long story short, Francis Jackson's dud recruitment.
Peter Francis called it .
Hepell a future club captain.
All Frankie had to do was make a phone call.

Yeah I was waiting to tell him to take Heppell. ;D

Nah he's busy enough.

It's his inability to keep his feet, slow decision making by hand and very iffy kicking that will hold him back

Yep. And these issues don't go away no matter how fit he is. And he looks in better nick.

Not sure how the Conca story will end
I'll have a stab. He plays approximately 20 uninspiring games over the next 2 seasons with the RFC. He,ll cop a serious injury that reduced him to those 20 games.

He,ll get delisted at the end of 2018 (despite some here saying "we should keep him, he just needs an uninterrupted run")

One of the WA clubs will pick him up where he,ll play another season or 2 for about 10 games.

Depressing to say the least.....but I always wonder if Heppell would've been any good with us. The Chicken or the egg question....is it the player or the coach?

If he can be above average with Essendon than with us he would probably go down as one of the greats of the AFL

I can't remember the last time someone doing a full preseason fixed their decision making and disposal.

I think this is what I dislike most. It's like his whole golf bag is full of pitching wedges.

Ha, gold analogy.

you dont think fatigue effects decision making and skills? you dont think a full preseason can affect fitness?

Conca does go to ground too often, i dont think he loses his feet tho, he choices to go to ground. he needs to change this.
he isnt a spearing kick but i reckon his kicking is decent, except when he pokes at the ball, or blazes away. he needs to change both these habits as well.

So far He's got through his training sessions unscathed which is a great start for him!

Yep, not a favorite of mine but hope he realises his potential. Not sure who panics more when he has the ball, me or him.

All good points.

But if Conca does in fact level out to be a C grader and has limited improvement left in him, he's still a handy senior player IMO. Needs to have a good JLT series.

Valid.

Indeed. So what we know is that he goes to ground, panics and kicks pitching wedges.

Bit to work with.

Re: Reece "Top 10 Pick #6 ever" Conca

Ok so we're aware of the faults.

What are the positives?

IMO he's very good in close.
Decent link player by hand.
Good tackler.

I still see him as a fringe/depth player I'm afraid. Have Edwards ahead of him in the 22.

Re: Reece "Top 10 Pick #6 ever" Conca

Still have the same view. IF he can get fit and stay fit, I think he a solid to good player. But, big if.

His confidence dropped off terribly last season. Hope he can get a run at it, get some confidence and show what's he's got one way or the other.
