Still not convinced by this pick. Will get better with time but nothing jumps out that he will be anything special.

Bit early to make such statements. He's played 3 games for God's sake (all against quality opposition), give him some time.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

one of very few who's first option isn't bomb it long blindly.

Even though he has been beaten in two out of three games, he has impressed me so much with his balance, poise and skill. The bit of play when he got backed into a bad position, then went past his opponent and spotted up a target was great.

The kid is three games in and is playing in a foreign position. I can only see long term player for us with him. Silk. I do want him to get a run in the midfield now.

He is no Ben Cousins unfortunately...........or Dyson Heppell >:D

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Gee some early bagging here. Made a couple of silly mistakes but first year draftee tracking pretty well I would have thought.

thats right jb. Some supporters expect our top 10 picks to play like Chris Judd from day one!

Start judging the guy after at least 12-15 games not 3. ::)

Agree. Heppel was the closest thing to a lock for me after the GC plundering. Still, don't think it'll reach Fiora/Pav or Bling/Buddy levels of regret and he should be given an extended run in the seniors, in a year where we can afford to.

Yeah, starting to feel a bit nervous. Heppell looks like a future superstar.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Heppell playing as LMID, is getting an easy ride compared to conca so far.

lol 3 games in rubbish call.

Whilst Heppell continues to get cheap kicks in a Bomber team that is winning, this will look bad.

If Heppell was at Richmond you would be leading the calls that he is soft, outside, one paced and has no right foot.

We are damned if we do and damned if we don't with most.

Conca will be the better all round player when you can judge their careers. Right now, relax, have a coffee and don't get wound up on Bigfooty type worries.

Wow 3 games in and we have to put up with this crap.

Rubbish.

Yeah, you can't call it after 3 games but you also can't deny Heppell looks like an absolute gun. Let's just hope Conca is better, I'd like to see him moved to the midfield to get him more into the game.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Reece has had a real baptism of fire, and he's stood up. To me he's shown real class and character. Has some presence. Looks like our Reece could be a star to me.

I can see past the stat sheet.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

reece looks good to me
sometimes you can tell in the first minute.
seems to have good skills and finds a bit time with the ball.
needs a few seasons under his belt.

I reckon Hardwick knows exactly what he doing in this instance.

Agreed. The old HBF appenticeship before the midfield graduation. Basically what Wallarse should've done with Lids & Bling from the get go.

My instincts tell me Heppel will be better, but as I said, I doubt it will end up being similar to certain other infamous who we drafted ahead of who debates from the past.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

very happy with Concs.....classy player. Heppell is a good supercoach pick and no doubt a quality player too.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Not sure about others but I actually get quite excited on the rare occasions he gets a run on the ball.
You can see the impact he'll have down the line.
