Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Congratulations Conca on your debut and lucky to be with the best club in the AFL.

Rip em apart tomorrow. :clap

proper footballer.

Yep, slowly we are getting a few of these. Think Helbig and Batchelor fit that mould too.

And Houli and Grigg help as well. Would be great to go in with 5 new names all bringing something to the table.

Just need Conca to run the correct patterns on the outside. Just multiple efforts in the one passage of play. Just do what you are good at. Nothing more nothing less.

Would love to know what the "correct patterns" should be. Just so I know what look out for during the game.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Thank heavens were now using the hardwick patterns, previously we used Pro Hart models :hihi

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

The half back line is starting to take shape with some good runner and ball users sitting back there. Astbury will take time to develop into the key role, but has the potential to hold that spot down.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I thought 'patterns' was used as short hand for following the game plan - running in support of ball-getters, being in the right place to act as a link man. That's just me though, perhaps 'patterns' is hilarious.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

OK, so being the prez of the squirrel, i thought i should give my synopsis.

i thought recce butchered the ball early. For beavis to say we are injecting skill with reece, i expected more. But thats what i expeected.
I thought conca really worked his way into the game well. his disposal got better as the game went on,but also did the positions he made, the way he backed into packs and his seconds efforts were good.

overall, i thought his first up effort was very good. if he goes forward from here, i will be a hppy man. stats posted below. (FWIW i thought chimp was an out and out champ tonight the way he worked HIS way back into the game).

go tiges

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Think you're underselling him here or maybe it's just me. One of the better Richmond debuts of recent times IMO. Yeah, he didn't get a ton of the ball but the amount of times he was put under the pump by shocking decisions from teammates and work his way out of it was impressive. Great agility, good skills, great decision making. He has time with the ball. He had confidence to take the game on and make the play. You can just tell when a kid has "it" and he has it.

I was a big, big fan of Heppell but Conca just may win me over. Well done lad. It's not easy playing in the Richmond backline.

I actually thought the backline overall was great considering they had more ball comming at them than a p*** actress

True.

We were slaughtered out of the middle. Was embarrassing. What was the inside 50 count? Shutter to think.

Agree, thought he was very composed, time with the ball, not in a hurry and looking to find a gap to get out and move forward.

Showed some ticker tonight too, went back with the flight and hits the ball. Very much a player.
