Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Surely the whole midfield depth thing means we can keep the physically small of stature off the park till they grow up a bit physically?
I'll be very happy when first year players simply can't walk into the senior side. Means we will be finally getting somewhere in terms of talent and depth.

So similar to how Geelong held Selwood back for so long and made him earn a spot in their highly talented midfield?

Yep they held him back for a whole pre season

To me he looks like a polished updated amalgam of Rob Wiley, Mark Mercuri and Joe Misiti with a bit of Strawbs (O Dwyer) on top.

Wiley had that ability to slide in to a contest and escape on his feet. Mercuri the continuous movement forward and the ability to find the best target by foot either short, mid and sometimes long distance and Misiti also had that inside out pass on the right that usually found a target.

Chick Strawbs 'conca' on top.
If we get a Mercuri or Wiley clone then we have done very well.

If he played for the Tiges you'd happily offer to share you're KFC bucket with him.

Now that is the stuff of legend, TM.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

80-1 for the Rising Star is Reece @Sportsbet.com.au

Swallow a prohibitively short favourite at 2.75.

Great value there for Conca... I'm also expecting a few nominations from a few of the tiger cubs too!

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I'm pretty sure the AFL will do what is necessary for Swallow or another GC player to win it.

i've heard Conca is an argentinian name???

It's an Italian name.

Dario Conca is an Argentinian Soccer player of Italian extraction so that may be where the Argentinian connection comes from. Argentina has a very large Italian community.

There are a number of towns and regions in Italy with the word Conca in their name, including Conca dei Marini on the Amalfi coast near Positano, an absolutely sensational part of the world.

Maybe we should call him Don Conca.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

AFL Twitter says Hardwick confirmed The Squirrel will be debuting tomorrow.

All the best Reece. Give them hell.
