Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I'll be tipping backing Concs to have a big year next season.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Moon boot on, say hello to the bench press, start adding some more strenth/definition to the upper body/arms. See you NAB Feb 2013.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I must say, I don't see Reece as a elite kick yet. Above average but not elite at all.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Yeah certainly not elite. Don't think that was ever suggested though was it?

And what have the consequences been since he's been out?

we've lost alot of zip and run around the packs, we've lost an extra in under clearance player.

there's no way we would have lost to GC, North and Carlton if foley was fit

our mid depth was thin to begin with, losing foley was a massive loss to our season - cost us finals

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Yeah, Foley seemed to have a good game when Martin was a little quiet. We definitely missed him alot.

Agree with that.

Foley is hugely important. Is it any coincidence that since his last game which was against the Saints our form has dropped away considerably?

Even on Sunday, when the likes of Cotchin was moved out of the middle, the young Bulldogs were able to get clearance after clearance and get back within a kick in the third quarter. Just having that one extra, quality player like Foley to rotate through there makes a world of difference.

The losses to GC and Carlton were due purely to bad goalkicking. The midfield more than did their job in both those games. North are a top 8 team and they were in good form. We should have beaten them in the end (Grigg's easy miss) and that's pretty consistent with where we've been at with other top 8 teams all year. The GC and Carlton losses were also games where we were missing plenty more quality players other than Foley. The inclusion of any of the others missing would more than likely have made just a big a difference to the end result.

This isn't to say Foley wouldn't make us better but the fact is we've lost one of our better midfielders and still our midfield performances are very good. We're ranked highly for clearances and contested possessions and we often control large periods of games as evidenced by the inside 50 counts in many of our games.

Get Foley back, get improvement from Cotchin, Martin, Conca and Ellis and add more quality and depth from the draft/trades and we'll have a very solid midfield.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

We definately will improve next year with more game time & pre season into Ellis,Conca,Helbig as well as another 2 High draft picks which should be midfielders with class and hopefully Vickery & Astbury will be all over their injuries and provide Big hard bodies with another summer in the gym. Grimes has been a massive loss for us in the 2nd half of this year.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Watched the round 7 replay against the Swan's last night and concentrated mostly on Conca's game. This kid has a never say die attitude and i feel he is in for an oustanding career with the Tige's.His awareness and second efforts are first rate. Not afraid to give the don't argue either.Let's hope he stay's injury free because we have a little ripper on our hand's here. :fing32

The Squirrel is one of my favorites. He's going to be an important cog in our premiership midfield.
