Let's hope we see something to (finally) back up the hype this season.

bullus_hit said:if he learns to kick goals like Harvey then we have a true A grader on our hands, at the moment he seems timid in front of the goals but you never know what a bit of confidence can do.

He's the least of our problems!
bullus_hit said:I doubt you will find any post of me slating Conca, in fact I was in a distinct minority when it came to preferring Conca over Heppell. My original point does stand however, because it's one area of his game he needs to work on. He's kicked 5.10 in two seasons and his first instinct seems to be to pass to a team mate even when he's in a good position to score. Nothing major but if we could somehow manage to get 20 goals a season out of him then we'll have a very fine player on our hands.
Agree BH. I have high hopes for Conca. And the signs are there for a good season this year. But if he can add to the scoreboard as well then he will be the complete midfielder.bullus_hit said:I doubt you will find any post of me slating Conca, in fact I was in a distinct minority when it came to preferring Conca over Heppell. Think all 5 of those goals were 2012 yeah BH hopefully this is an upward trend. A couple of his goals were long bombs and beauties.bullus_hit said:I doubt you will find any post of me slating Conca, in fact I was in a distinct minority when it came to preferring Conca over Heppell. Key concerns with Conca are: going to ground and getting pinged (good players rarely get caught holding the ball), foot skills - too often is rushed in his kicking and tendancy to do a u-turn when he gets the ball.bullus_hit said:The game against Melbourne where he scored 2 goals from outside 50 just highlighted what he's capable of, at the time I remember thinking there were shades of Matthew Knights in the way he played that day. Hopefully we see more of the same in the near future.
His agility and ability to sidestep is one of his great assets, it buys him more time and allows him to pick the best option. If I was to single out one area that he could improve in general play, it would be his habit of going to ground and being pinged for holding the ball. I actually thought he did that more in 2012 than in his debut year, but again, I don't think it's a major issue and overall think he's shown excellent composure for a second year player.
