Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Reece racked up the frequent flyer points this week. In his interview after the game he said he had to fly back home to WA mid week, back to Victoria then off the Brisbane.

Really worried about RC..really should be racking up 12-14 possie games and squibbing contest after contest and ducking the head. Really should've taken Heppel >:D

Yep thats heppel to a tee i said it last year heppel is soft, plays the loose half back role well and if we didnt have houli, batch, newy, morris etc so we didnt need another heppel type we needed a hard at it inside mid = Conca....!!!!

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Excellent effort by Conca, in his best game so far for the Tiges.

Hope he can hold this to this new level consistently.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Quality work by Reecey the concareter. Still see him as better value than the Esserdum seagull. The only way the two can be truly evaluated in direct comparison is if Heppel ever starts to play some in and under footy instead of scavenging spilled chips.

I wouldn't be calling Heppell soft, but yes Conca and Heppell are vastly different types, even if they both end uo playing mid. Conca suits the game style Dimma wants, as Heppell is playing to what Hirdy wants I suspect. Frankly, I think while both Clubs would be happy with who they have, both would like another of other too.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Conca is travelling beautifully for a second year player, big future ahead for the Squirrel and to pick up a tough, composed inside mid is just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah I think it's his willingness to get his hands dirty that has me most excited. He's really quite happy to throw himself in there but is equally adept outside. I was thrilled with the games of he and Edwards last night. 2 players stepping up.
Great to see.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Watching heppel tonight, its insulting people think he is better than Conca. I would and have said this countless times, take conca over him anyday.

I agree. he played really well. With another pre-season under his belt and a stronger body he'll break free from contests more often and hopefully put himself under less pressure which should in turn improve his disposal efficiency

Played like a turnover merchant tonight.

I could care less about Heppel?

He is a Bomber, Conca is a Tiger.

I am happy with Conca, case closed.

Agreed, but unfortunately too many compare these two together.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

His kicking seems to have have dipped a bit imo. He is a good kick but he seems to be rushing a bit and has developed the Tuck kick and hope style at times recently. I like his ball winning ability but he still has to learn to be a bit more composed with the ball.

He is tough and hard which I really like.

Yeah, agreed. I have noticed the no-look bomb being used a few times too often by him. The wild bomb should only be used in modern AFL as a last resort, and especially not with our current key forward stocks.

I reckon most of those rushed kicks are from in the middle of a pack - when he's getting the ball in a contested situation and just getting it away.

Yep. Chimp rushes plenty of those kicks too in a contested situation.
Ya can't say that ToOheys, bagging the chimp just not permitted. Go stand in the corner and wash your mouth out with flat warm southwark.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Well I like Conca but like SinTiger, I have been a bit disappointed with his composure lately.

I think he is learning to adjust to a midfield role and he is probably feeling more inferred pressure than actually exists.

He is missing a lot of fairly easy and obvious handball options and just kicking widely and often shanking.

Hoping its just a transition/experience thing.
