Do the same (*racist) people who boo Goodes, boo Burgoyne, Cameron, Bettes and the other 60 or so Indigenous players?
Me, personally I haven't heard it. If it is the case that they don't boo the other Indigenous players wouldn't that show that's it directed at the one personality, not his colour or race?

You cant reason with Libtards.

Sorry Rosy but I doubt you have ever been close to being in Goodes position. I asked you to stand in his shoes but it doesn't sound to me like you tried to do that? To really stand in his shoes is to imagine his whole life up to this point and to imagine being in the minority in your own country, and to know all of the disadvantage that come with it and a life of listening to racism directed right at you. On your TV. On the radio. Over the boundary every weekend. Down the shops. At your family. And then to consider how that might shape your actions. From your response, I don't think you did that.

...

I can never be in his shoes so I find it a futile exercise. I wouldn't for one second be so presumptuous to even guess at that hypothetical situation, although like Adam I also have European and Aboriginal blood in my family. There are plenty of other Aboriginal players who don't choose to behave the same way as Adam.

No Rosy the time where "there may well be feral racists" has come and gone. There absolutely are feral racists and that we know that should cause us to rethink our behaviour to one of the games greats.

Maybe or maybe not. I don't like Adam Goodes as a player. No doubt he can be brilliant but to me that doesn't outweigh the fact he is a stager and he politicises the game. If he's in the supporters' faces I understand him copping the flak. He surely can't expect to be exempt from negative reactions.

On "his own actions" I support whole heartedly his passion for his culture and for making Aussies look full frontal at the true history of our great country.

Fair enough. I don't think the football field is the place to do it myself. What exactly is the "true history" he's making us look at? He hasn't altered my opinions in the slightest way. Some of what he says doesn't quite fit right with me. Happy to be enlightened though.

Needs a week off apparently - being booed is all to much for the former Aussie of the Year.

Should take the rest of the season off, couldn't care less if he never returned.

We don't need people like him spoiling our game. :hihi

I haven't heard it either. Everyone loves Cyril don't they? :hihi :hearton

How has this become the biggest issue in football? There were at least a dozen more important/interesting things to come out of the weekend. Nice diversion from the woes of the game itself, though.

That is an extremely ordinary, unnecessary and unacceptable comment.
And yet somehow that appears to be what you are suggesting

Given it would have been impossible for Goodes to do anything else

Crap...I didn't suggest that at all and I'd thank you not to put words in my mouth.

No. Those players are less likely to highlight or stress the disadvantages suffered by indigenous people. Goodes is prepared to stand up and speak out which annoys the hell out of the racists.

This. I am with you 100%.

Yep a few have agreed with that. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we ALL treated everybody with respect and lack of abuse and confrontation regardless of our heritage and/or beliefs?

So you're saying its wholly because of his standing up and speaking out.? So it's not because he's a black fella but more his speaking up?
So even if I agree with his standing up and speaking out for disadvantages suffered by Indigenous people but I don't happen to like him for other reasons ie that he's a sniping flog poseur. I'm still a racist. Okay gotcha.

So tell me how racism gets better if you don't confront it? Until the little boy points at the emperor everyone just goes along.

Yeah, you're not racist but you're still going to stand alongside the racists and boo?

Firstly you might have missed this post Knighters. I've asked you a question in response to you quoting and addressing your post to me.

I'll ask again here

In regards to your post above I don't get your point in relation to my comment really. Of course racism needs addressing. It doesn't require confrontation or abuse to do it though. Goodes pretended to throw a spear at a group of fans in a manner that he said was in anger. How does that help racism get better? *Would it be acceptable if someone in the crowd did a similar thing to him? (* rhetorical question there)

Deleted it. Pathetic and disappointing.

It was deleted because as I'm sure you are aware we aren't allowed to post from the official AFL websites other than richmondfc.com.au No doubt you're aware of that but just to reaffirm

We once again have official permission from the RFC to post the content from their website onto PRE. As with all articles the source must be mentioned and a link to the article provided. Please also refrain from posting links to the official AFL site.

We aren't permitted to post any articles from the other official AFL websites and cooperation in that regard would be gratefully appreciated.

Rather than call me pathetic you could abide by the site rules that apply to all of us. :blah

Tell me something...if I'm Adam Goodes...how can I tell you apart from a racist bogan?
