Re: Adam Goodes

Adam shouldn't dish it out if he can't take it. His own behaviour has resulted in the attention he's copping. I have zero respect for him and think he's doing his cause far more harm than good.

Thanks LTRTR

Forgot about that! But hey that's the AFL trying to show its diversity and tolerance.

A "rule " on the fly ! As they know done any other time apart from Indigenous round is/may be a case for "insighting violence" . That's how I see it.

I personally don't boo Goodes. But I don't particularly like or admire him as a player anymore.

It's strange though. I once did!

Goodes doesn't bother me that much. But booing him's become a bit of a game now. Attempts to stamp down on it will incite the inner Aussie larrikin in a lot of people.

In two weeks they play Geelong at Geelong, followed by Collingwood. Could get out of control.

Edit: My God, Mifsud's at it again. I won't quote from it because the *smile*'s everywhere.

I thought Adam said at the start of this that it didn't bother him, he didn't even hear it. Clearly that seems to have changed, and now other players have taken up the cause on his behalf.

Re: Re: Round 17 - other games

Like the way you try and reason things LTRTR but yeah the AFL have lost all semblance of control , reasoning and common sense .

All areas of the AFL.

It's becoming a joke and may pull fans slowly away.

Yep. Poor old Rocket Eade deserved some credit for the Swans success.
Instead he got the sack and then nearly took the Dogs all the way. Twice the coach Roos has ever been.

I was at the soccer Friday night and Sterling got booed all the time, not for his colour but for the fact he left Liverpool for money.

The Scouser BIL was angry at lunch yesterday.... :hihi

Wouldn't mind Gawn and Hogan personally. That Watts is the biggest pea heart in the AFL though.

Just on Saturday, 1 day before yesterday's game, there was an article with him asking why he still gets criticised.

Respectfully disagree.
365+ games, 2 premierships, 2 Brownlow medals, a strong leader who instilled a tremendous culture at his club plus the ability to play any position on the park elevates Goodes to the top of the pile IMO.
Champion who will rightly be remembered as one after all this BS dies down.

This.

Goodes has been Carey-like (at times) in his ability to dominate his position, dictate the play and win games with sheer force of will. I hate his sniper acts (less common now) and playing for frees (still pretty common) but both were part of Carey's game who many consider to be among the very best.

It's all pantomime.

As a former teacher, if you tell the kids not to do something, or appear flustered by what they're doing, they're just gonna go on, and on, and on.

By continuing to give this airtime, it's gonna keep happening. I bet the people doing it are giggling under their breath as they do it, like naughty little school kids.

LOL at Blobbo talking about this issue on 360.

I know knuckleheads more than you do, Gerard. I know knuckleheads, I do.

Blobbo should try the theatre. Those histrionics are something else.

Goodesy gets booed because people think he's a flog. And he gets booed extra because he's a black flog. It's impossible to say it definitely is or isn't racist. There's an element of racism to it.

Hence why those who do it for non racial reasons should stop.

How can we know that there's an element of racism to it? I'd feel the same about him whether he was black white or brindle. I agree with Midsy that it's a bit of theatre and it's a fire that's being fanned by Goodes' behaviour rather than his race.

yeah..its just now gone on for to long...like jonothan brown said..most people don't really know why they boo, they just do it because everyone else is...he might be a bit of a flog,so are about 100 players..but to have 20,000 booing overtime he gets the ball..every week..every game is just pathetic....i don't like sydney or him or any other player..but this crap is now turning hateful and spiteful...ive just left the richmond tigers supporters page on Facebook..and the afl fans forum on Facebook..in utter disgust at the level of vile hatred towards him...ive learnt just how ugly australian yobbo culture is en masse....i noticed that no one really had reason for the hate except he is a flog..or *smile*..or stages..as if there big enough reasons for such endless hate....

its now just a pack mentality..safety in numbers...
don't get me wrong i boo and yell at games..but i pull my head in to..

in a nutshell..its not like he gave heroin to a young girl and she died in his hotel room..or had sex with his team mates wife repeatedly...etc etc....he actually has never done anything THAT wrong..

on a lighter note ..i loved the fact he threw a invisible spear at the carlton members and freaked them out...thats gold

and good on jetta for standing up for his mate.

I don't think that's a lighter note. I am astounded acts of aggression towards the crowd from players on the ground are condoned. Far worse than mob mentality in the outer booing imo.

Mark Murphy fined for flipping the bird to Collingwood cheer squad
Jack had to apologise for giving the finger to the crowd
Didak fined for obscene gesture to crowd
Dusty fined $2000 for handcuffs

Yet the AFL seems to embrace Indigenous players inciting the crowd with implied acts of violence.

rosy..it was celebrating indigenous day...a tradition war dance.....he stood up for himself...jetta stood up for him.......personally I've seen and heard so much in the outter of mcg that was worse...but each to their own...you didn't like it..i did...im not astounded by it at all
