R18 other games

Unbelievable. Best win in 20 years against the universally recognised best team in the land.

Yet we drop a spot on the ladder.

Could only happen to Richmond :p

*smile* you Essendope!!

Don't worry about % with 5 games to go.
We get our chance against the Dopers soon enough.
Just have to make sure we too have a 14 goal win.

They'll probably pump up steroids with Jabba making an amazing return...

Keep winning and the ladder takes care of itself lads. Don't worry about what you can't control.

True if we win every game we will at least finish 5th and maybe 4th but we need the Swans to drop a game and then we need to make up %.

However, we can control how we play against lower sides. At the moment we take it too easy and lapse when we are well in front and let them back into the game. The St.Kilda and Carlton games are prime examples and right now have cost us a spot on the ladder. That last quarter against the Saints was putrid. Should have won that game by 10 goals minimum.

We need to beat both GC and Essendope by 10 goals minimum. No longer good enough as a team with top 4 aspirations just to win; we need to win big.

Seriously, who cares. It's where you finish at the end of the season.

On a lighter note - from the Essendon BF forum

Points to any journo who asks Hird if Crameri was just lucky.

:hihi

I think the penny has finally dropped for Essendumb fans... not a lot of love for Hirdy around right now.

It's like that killer virus called Ninthmond that spread through the 90s where we just missed the finals dependent on other teams. ;D

Bulldogs passing us is irrelevant as we aren't going to make the top 4 anyways. Sydney will do enough. 5th or 6th you're likely playing a melb team in melb. North or Geelong.

True but it's also about developing a killer instinct and crushing sides when they are on the ropes. This year we have been awesome in getting ourselves up for games against top sides but we lose focus against weaker opposition.

% more often than not plays a huge role in where you finish on the ladder.

Giants are spooking the Shockers with the 1st 2 goals in the 3rd. They could run over the top of them if they just roll the dice.

We can at 16-6. Then again, if Swans drop out of top 4 and Bulldogs take it, then 5th or 6th looks better.

Yep still think we'll finish above the Dogs and be 5th. Our only hope for top 4 is if we win every game and the Swans lose one. They may drop against the Cats next week or even GWS in round 21. They won't lose two though.

Then we need to smash Essendope and GC and get above them on %.

Still gotta aim for top 4; second chance is important and I'd rather play Freo in Perth than Cats or Roos at MCG.

First, for % and higher finals spot, and secondly, for the pleasure!! If booing is racist, then I'll be racist against Tird the Tanker.

If we win every game from here on end, not only will be playing in the finals, most teams in there will not want to run into us first game out.

We didn't just beat Hawthorn last Friday, we made the whole comp look across and become more worried. The fear of facing the Tigers is coming back.

Going to be very close for that 4th spot. Could come down to a bit of luck but seems unlikely that Swans will drop any of Cats, Magpies, Giants, Saints or Suns. But its been a crazy season.

Swans may hang in the top four if they stay injury free. If they don't, they are no chance.

Tigers are the lowest team they've lost to this year and they don't play anyone higher than 8th in remaining 5 games. They're in the box seat. Just a pity we wasted so many opportunities against Fremantle.

This! Excellent post.
