Premier League 2022/2023/2024/2025

I'm no Spurs fan but team seem to be enjoying life under Ange. Maddison flying & just ghosted in to slot the opener at Bournemouth, 0-1 mid 1st half.

Ange has clearly focused on mids that are more attacking focused and strong in possession. Maddison in there immediately makes them a different team.
Ange is the exact appointment Spurs needed, they've become boring to watch over the last few seasons, this appointment is as much as making them more attractive to watch as anything.

Ange post match lastnight...
If you don't trust that first link just look up TNT Sports in the UK.

His introductory line at TNT is why he's very hard to dislike.... let's hope they don't kick the *smile* out of him when they lose a few!

Thank *** for Jose Sa in goals for Wolves otherwise it would have been another abject drubbing. Buffoonery down back again and court jester material up front. Fabio Silva is a spud.

Got away with one.

Australia, Asia, Japan, Scotland and now England, Ange is showing the world that his Ange-ball is a revelation, viva la revolution Ange.

Call me biased if you like, but i think our midfield and midfield depth is as good as anyone in the Premier League (notwithstanding a couple might be sold by Friday). It also looks like we are chasing Brennan Johnson from Forest. He's probably more of a winger then a striker.

This leads me to a prediction... If the Richarlison experiment fails, I can see Ange adopting a false 9 system. Similar to what he played at Melbourne Victory 10 years ago. The false 9 system heavily relies on wingers and gives us an extra body in the midfield (where we are strong). I think it would work great under this squad. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised if Ange trials this in the EFL cup game midweek.

As for Saturday night, i think we should have put 4 or 5 past Bournemouth. And on another day we probably would have. Those 2 goals were classic Ange-ball, especially the second. First away clean sheet since January. A lot to be happy with in these early stages.

On a side note, Kane has scored 3 times in 2 Bundesliga games. If he regularly scores 30 goals in the Premier League, he might hit 40 playing for the best team in Germany.

Hi @Ian4 .... unlike myself, you are obviously a keen supporter and expert of the world game.

I'm a little bit captivated by all the Ange love going on over there, so I've found myself listening/watching all manner of podcasts and interviews etc...
It's like PRE on steroids with some of those supporter groups!

I made a comment in an earlier post that I hope they don't kick the *smile* out of him when they have a few failures.... that'd be unlikely wouldn't it?

Anyway, I was listening to one group called the FightingCock and fair dinkum, some of the msgs and discussions they have are equally hilarious and somewhat disturbing in these days of political correctness!

I'm intrigued to know what sort of coin he'd be getting.... sounds like that Levy fellow is a real tight arse!

I wouldn't say I have been a keen supporter. Yes, I do follow Spurs, but they were always a distant third behind Richmond and Melbourne Victory. And I have disengaged over the past couple of years. Not just because they have hired coaches who play anti-football, but I changed phone providers from Optus and Telstra and didn’t wanna fork out the crazy prices for Optus sport,

But I have also been a keen observer of the teams Ange has coached post-Socceroos. So, when he signed for Spurs, it was like all of my Xmases had come at once.

Straight away I reengaged like I have never before. Started listening to podcasts and more active on social media. Forked out $200 for the Optus season pass. I’m also keeping a close eye on system, strategy and transfer window rumours. I am also planning a trip to London in February to see 2 games.

The main podcast I listen to is called the “Last Word on Spurs,” and the general consensus is that Ange needs time. They expect some floggings while they learn Ange-Ball and are pleasantly surprised at how quickly they have adjusted to it. I do not think there is any threat he will be sacked within 6-12 months if things go pear-shaped. Everyone acknowledges we are in rebuild mode.

Spurs have a notoriously fickle fan base and I think winning the fans over is half the battle. The host of the Last Word on Spurs cannot recall a time where the fans have taken to a coach so quickly. I think of lot of this has to do with the way Conte and Mourinho spoke… always cryptic in what they said. Ange just says it how it is, and talks about how important the fans are.

The rumour I have heard is that Ange is on £5 million (Conte was allegedly on £15 million).

Good coin for a boy from South Melbourne Hellas

Ange ball continues to take the Premier League by storm.

Spurs should have had 5 past Burnley by half time. The poor Burnley keeper had more touches than his own midfield.

Ange is smart individual. Put the football nous to one side he is all about creating a culture embracing the players and the fans and bringing them together as one. In a short period of time he has nailed that.

Having Son as captain was an inspired choice. Maddison is arguably the most damaging midfielder in the competition. At 45m pound is proving to be an absolute bargain.

ManU have borrowed Newcastle’s kit for their away trip to Arsenal today. Looks ridiculous.

Decent performance against Burnley. Really good to see Son find some form. The buildup for the 5th Goal was phenomenal. But I was annoyed we conceded at the end. We also have to remember it was against a team that will likely be fighting relegation. We have bigger games to come with an away NLD coming up in 3 weeks, then Liverpool, at home.

Also, a disappointing end to the transfer window. We weren’t able to clear out the dead wood, which would have given us the space and the money to bring in an extra CB and midfielder. Our depth is pretty poor if you go by the Carabao Cup performance midweek.

Realistically, we only really have a rotation of about 15-16 players. But it was always going to be hard to overhaul the squad in one window. Hopefully the players we have now will get us through to January, where we can make more changes. We will be in serious trouble if Romero or VDV get injured or suspended (especially now that it looks like Sanchez is going to Turkey).

Yeah, very good win... sloppy for the two Burnley goals but you really can't complain about 5-2 away from home. Son looked much better in the centre forward position, will be interesting to see how Ange adjusts going forwards. Maddison killing it along with Udogie, Bissouma, Sar... fun to watch.

In the other game I watched Man U lose 3-1 to the Arse - Gooners dominated early but Man U unlucky the second half. Looked better than they have done all year and Amrabat will help a brittle defensive midfield. Still, Ten Hag under some pressure right now.

Sanchez (and Ndombele) have gone to Turkey. The club has confirmed that Ashley Phillips (18) and youth player Aflie Dorrington (also 18) will be in the senior squad as backup CBs (along with Ben Davies who can play CB and LB).

Very risky.

Have a friend who is in London, just arrived for short trip to see friends.

He likes Leeds Utd. Coincidentally they are playing in London on Sunday.

Playing away at……. Millwall.

He’s saying he wants to go to the game.

I’m trying to tell him. It’s not like going to the footy here. You can’t just go and sit anywhere and still support the away team. Especially not at Millwall. 😳

I don’t know how he would go about getting a ticket in the away section? Especially at this late stage. Are they essentially sold only to Leeds season ticket holders?

From what I have observed, the recognised away support get escorted in and out of the neighbourhood and ground by police, usually from the train that has come in from Leeds.

Sure, he could probably get a ticket to the game easy enough. But would only be able to go along and act as a neutral observer, if in normal general admission.
