PRE Pundits 2024 Top 30

1-Fos or Lawler
6-Jagga - unsure if he makes it this far, but there is a chance. If gone then Draper
10-Berry
11-Allan
18-Trevaglia
20-Best tall available
23-Hotton/ Reid or Ough
24-Best Whitlock or Gerreyn

I have based my picks on who I think will be available around our picks and at certain picks I have put in multiple players in order of my preference if my preferred has gone.

1) FOS
6) 1. Langford or 2. Smillie
(All of Lalor, Draper, Smith, Taurau will be off the board IMO)
10) Lindsay, (ps i were going to go Travaglia but got put off a bit by his 3.182sec for 20m at combine although he blitzed 2km with 6.13)
11) Bo Allan
18) 1. Hotton 2. Berry 3. Hannaford
20) 1. Jack Whittock 2. Faull 3. Simms
23) Whoever is still there from my small forwards or key forwards above
24) Trade for future 1st

For the exposed guys don't stress about combine times if you've watched them play enough Julius.

In sneakers, on a basketball court after being on your playstation all morning doesn't necessarily translate to football after 90 minutes of bumps, hits and running.

It's handy for some you don't see much of, but ILO can be overrated a bit how much some weight it's given.

The Italian is a good example. Do you ever watch him in a match and think he's slow? No.

Good to see Hotton on some of these draft lists. I'm hoping we take the risk (we have enough picks to justify it). Heard Adam Cooney, who coaches Geelong College, say Hotton was the most dominant player he played against in school footy. Good enough for me.

Yeah. I don't mind 20m times as a reference - I think the more info the better - but there's quick/slow and then there's FOOTBALL quick/slow.

RCD and Daniel Jackson (or Knees Up Mother Brown as I used to refer to him) come to mind. Both had ok times over 20m if I recall, and I'm sure over 100m with time to wind up they would have been even better, but they were terrible in football boots, on grass, chasing or evading oppo players over the course of 120 mins of football.

Still have nightmares of Jacko tagging Judd and the 5m separation Judd used to always get on him. Brrrr.

Iā€™ll have a crack at the top 11 in order as we speak , using nothing but jibber jabber rumours

Tiges : Lalor
Brisbane : Ashcroft
Norf: Fos
Carlton: Smith, wonā€™t be shocked if they go Smillie
Crows: Draper
Dees: Armstrong
Tiges : Smillie
Saints : Lindsay
Saints :Viking
Dees: Reid
Tiges : Langford
Tiges: Hotton

I think the Blues want Smith or Smillie , to risky the jump if they want FOS knowing thereā€™s a fair chance heā€™s gone , also think Blair will go for pick 2 , be great if we could hang onto 6 ( unlikely ) in the deal and grab FOS, Lalor and one of Smillie, Smith or Langford , technically should solve some problems for a decade or so.

Ironically one of those games was when you knocked my beer over coz you couldn't control your own walking stick.

Bad enough getting flogged by Carlton, but unco old man knocks my beer over as well. Ffs...

I would love to know Blairs plan for next year,do we go all out for a trade,,Cadmann or JUH,or get in free agents .
Amyway my call for this year's picks are.

NO1..Lalor best all round player in the draft......
I have FOS and DRAPER AS NEXT 2-3,,Ashcroft of course but he was always going to the Lions .

NO.6 TAURU,lm taking a punt here and going slightly earlier than expected ,,l don't want Smillie ,lm not a fan of his,Langford maybe ,he is a bit slow but might turn out a Tom Green type.

NO10,11//18/20/23/24.it is hard to separate so many,,Lindsay/Allen/Jack Whitlock/Faull/Dattoli /Hannaford/Hotton/Hynes .they are my main picks for the Tiges.
If FJ has much input into selections,l reckon Dattoli is one he would like,,super composed, good overhead, good user of the ball on either side,,has a bit of hardness,, he lacks a yard of pace, but makes up for it in his great nous,,reminds me a bit of Toby Greene

Armstrong is the best set shot of the forwards, and has some big games, but goes missing in so many matches, his work rate in general play is average,,Is he a confidence player,or a me me type,l wouldn't be totally upset if we took him,,but he has quite a bit to work on.

Tevaglia l like a bit,but his kicking needs quite a bit of work.

Jack O.O.O,,I think he has been good, very underrated in the media, wouldn't be upset if we took him,,still 17,and improving.
Dodson,a must if we are going to go a ruck, although Burmeister has been good,he's probably more a nank type.

Jaques l like him a lot,l reckon he's the best Falcons player, really good lockdown HB,who is also good offense ,reads the play really well, good overhead, and decent foot skills, quite hard at it as well.

Cody Anderson,,love the way he goes about ,really hard ,would make a good forward, who can pinch hit as a md.

Others l like Archer day wicks,,Hugh Bovshall,HarryCharleson,Matt Whitlock, but they will most likely be taken after our picks.

Rankings and phantoms are meaningless.

I'm going this way. 1st cut. Reserve right to add, amend, whatever.

Locks
Jagga
FOS
Draper
Ashcroft
Trainor (could be in the risk category because of concussions)
Tauru
Travaglia
Lombard

Can definitely play but early pick risks.
Lalor
Smillie
Reid
Armstrong
Langford (close to being a lock)
Hotton

Value Players
Allan
Hannaford
Lindsay
Dodson
Dattoli
Berry
Ough (at 35 plus)
Welsh
Hynes
Faull (at 25 plus)
Nicholls

Hard to Rate - maybe's - in the frame - damned if I know
Sims
J Whitlock
M Whitlock

Smokies - around pick 30 onwards to rookies
Gerreyn
Oliver
O'Farrell
Clarke
Burmeister
Dennis
Jacques
Charleson
Boxshall
Ivisic

Scrappers - happy to pass
Davis
Camporeale's
Gross
Moraes
Urquhart
Davidson
Hoffman
Marshall

Overrated Players - happy to pass
Shanahan
Champion
Cole
Sulzberger
Kako (might be a bit risky)
Why amend them ,how much time do you want.
God you have nearly picked every player in the draft :ROFLMAO:

Pick 1 lalor
Pick 6 smillie
Pick 10 hannaford ( like Papley)
Pick 11 travaglia
Pick 18 Whitlock
Pick 20 Whitlock
Pick 23 gerreyn
Pick 24 trade for f1and pick in 40s

End up with Davidson :

Disclaimer: personally I have nfi but I might take a different approach - I am going with a mix of

2 pure midfielders - the best accumulator and one explosive tall midfielder
3 KPP - the best key position forward, a second key position forward and a quality swing KPP (optional)
2 midfielder forwards
1 specialist small forward

1. Smith - I reckon these types are gold - elite ball uses, finds buckets of possessions - just look at Ashcroft / Diacos
6. Armstrong - reckon we need the best KPF
10. Smillie - Midfielder
11. Murphy Reid / Xavier Lindsay - Midfielder / Forward
18. Joe Berry / Oliver Hannaford - Small Forward
20. Jack Whittlock KPF
23. Cooper Hynes / Taj Hotten - midfielder / forward
24. Matt Wittlock KPD, KPF

Where there are 2 players listed, preference is the first if available and was tossing up whether we go two small forwards or the third KPP in Matt Wittlock
