With a fair chance we’ll have 1,6,10,11,14,20,23 and 24 I wouldn’t think we’d go more then 8 picks , though I dare say we might trade one of our “ late” picks into next years , a crop of FOS , Travaglia, Trainor, Langford , Reid, Hynes, Simms and Marshall wouldn’t be a bad start towards the new Dynasty

I like all those picks. P20, 23 for sliders.
P24 first pick 2nd round is bloody valuable. If we want to trade it out, it will get a future 1st+. Rolled gold encrusted with diamonds.
I’m confident multiple clubs will bid on that pick.

I'm just thinking of a few posters who do U18 form but don't post much. Posters who can keep this upstart Leysy in line.

@Stan @Ghost of 29 @pete and tys

There are a couple of posters from the west who do junior form. Can't think of the handles just now...

And @bullus_hit is back in town. It must be nearing draft time!

I had a thought while walking the dog...

Say we draft FOS at 1...<I do like Lalor.>
FOS is a mate of H Reid...keep that in mind.
At 6 we get Smith if available..otherwise Hotten or Lindsay or Murphy Reid..
At 10 we select Allen.
In 2 years...we trade Allen for Reid to WCE plus a pick.

So in 2027 our midfield is..
Tarranto FOS and H Reid.... supported by Hotten Smart <pick 1 next year> ...wow!!!
Up forward Faull Whitlock Berry/Hannaford..plus Bauer and Moz
Additional picks 2025 and 6.....Small forward...
..medium forward...medium back..utities x2
Find or buy a ruck.
Will be a strong side...and one that improves year on year due to youth and additional drafting.

PS...interesting to see what Blues do.
Maybe they assume we take Lalor, Nth take Tauru....then they take FOS and pair him with H Reid in 2 years...yikes.

What do you want to know? My Vic Metro knowledge is strong, Country is okay especially with the boys who play APS.

I'd like to know how you rate Hotton.

If he played a full season would he have been seen as a top 5 pick?

I would like to keep picks 1 and 6 and grab him at 10 or 11.

With so many picks is he worth reaching for that early?

Question open to all the junior watchers obviously.

I'm trying to bring some fresh posters to the thread, Go29. I know you do form. Your Top 30 will be informative. Looking forward to it if you've got the time.

And hey, your views on Hotton are of interest to everybody. (See above^^^) FWIW I have a feeling that name is about to get some more air about now.

Cmon @bengal tigers @Scoop @Redford @eZyT @tigersnake @Smoking Aces @Dyer'ere @caesar ya softos.

Trade time is done. Put ya you know whats on the line!!!
Hardly think picking a top 30 is putting your nuts on the line Nobets. Save for one or two players here and there, just about every man and his dog all around the country has the same top 30 and players roughly in the same order. Who cares if spoof ranks someone at 5 and I rank them at 7 or 10 or whatever. It doesn't mean much. There's a bunch of better ways to put your nuts on the line than this.

However, seeing as you are struggling to get much attention with this thread, and there ain't a lot to do in there at Greenacres, good ole Mustreadford will come to your rescue once again.

Give me a day or 2 to get motivated enough, and I'll supply basically the same list as everyone else for you.

In the meantime, Horace is waiting for you in the gin rummy room.

I won’t do a top 30. Cal Toomeys top 30 seems pretty spot on.
Hotton - is a very very good player, skills elite, moves beautifully and game sense is elite. Is very slight and would be worried how he goes against bigger bodies that hit hard. Def top 15
Finn - have seen Finn in action a fair bit since Oakleigh 16’s. IMO he is the best player in this draft. Have seen him do some things that take your breath away. 2024 was a weird year for him. Even before his first broken finger at start of CTL I thought his attitude was poor. Training half hearted and his first CTL game was crap like he didn’t care. Seemed like the talk of him being No1 went to his head or weighed him down. Second finger injury was quite bad but he came back to Oakleigh much better. Unfortunately due to lack of continuity his body was struggling to make up for lost time. That said I still think he is the best player in this draft.
Lalor - saw him twice live and one of those was up close at Brighton G v Geelong G. His first half was great, second half ordinary after a hard tag. As is well known he is a beast, really good pack mark and fierce at the contest. Kicking was okay, in golf parlance he is more driver than pitching wedge. My biggest concern which is opposite to Hotton is his size. Against kids he is almost unstoppable, but how will this translate when he’s up against guys equally as strong or stronger than him. Many a man child have been exposed once out of junior footy.
Jagga - like Finn have seen Jagga up close for many years. Great kid, awesome footballer, goes and goes. If he can clean up his demanding of the ball in poor positions and start attacking more he will be an exceptional AFL player.

My hopes with our picks as they stand.
1. Finn
6. Langford
10. Murphy Reid
11. Shanahan
18. Jack Whitlock
20. Jesse Datoli
23. Harrison Oliver
24. Cooper Hynes

Next years draft falls away quickly and is corrupted by the amount of academy/nga kids. I’m all for loading up now and deal with contract issues in 5 years time.

ok, I was logged off until 2028, but I can't ignore an invite to audition for bit part in the Netflix Feel-good Sporting Thriller @spook has started penning titled 'Toce's Blackbook': its kind of a King Midas fable meets Dead Poets Society and Raging Bull: starring Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, Tom Cruise and featuring Noah Taylor as Andrew Dillon.

RIP Chris, thanks for your contribution, and peace and love to your family.

anyway, Top 30? no.

I'll do an amalgam, loosely based in reality, of who I think Richmond will and should take,

1. Finn O'Sullivan
6. Jagga Smith/Harvey Langford
10. Xavier Lindsay
11. Joe berry
18. Taj Hotton
20. Luke Trainor
23. Jonty Faull
24. Tom Simms (or possibly Auctioned overnight for 2025 top 10)

forgive my split at 6. I think it the MVP, and one of those blokes will be there and I'll be equally happy with either. I believe Langfords 20m time is a red herring; hes footy quick, does most things as good as Sam Lalor (I'll fist pump if we take him at 1 or 6, you can't have em all), and his left boot is more than adequate. I think you know my feelings on jagga.

24. Datoli. Or Gerreyn if we miss either earlier tall

That's a terrific perspective, Ghost. Luvvin you work. Fresh.

Your take on FOS's below expectation year is insightful. Plenty of the PREnd FOS fan club will be buoyed by you rating.

Your take on Smith looks very reasonable. FWIW I thought I could see him lifting his areas, and direction of running this year and I was enjoying seeing signs of coaching and application. Maybe I'm imagining that. But he did look to improve to my eyes.

Have you got a view on Langford and/or Smillie? I'm having trouble placing them. What's your take?

Reckon the reason there is some value/fun in this exercise is because it is so even this year.

Look at Leysy and Spooks lists. Some players were miles apart. Miles!

Also a lot of pundits on here seem to love everyone and not have the slows on any player.

It's only when you need you actually decipher a full order you find the one's you actually are and aren't keen on, compared to other players.

why reckon much more value in rolling out a full list than just throwing up who want us to take, which is fine, but surely can't mean a lot given you don't know what else was available.

Anyway each to their own.

Why not just put up from a list from the top 30 or so:

a) your top 5 locks b) top 5 risks c) top 5 overrated's and d) top 5 smokies or big value players outside 30 ? Or something like that.

Personally, that's far more "nuts on the line" than a vanilla top 30. Just because someone is ranked at 30, doesn't mean you don't like them.

Never really seen the point in phantom drafts and such.

Big fault of both Jagga and Levi, IMO. But easily coached out.

Even though I did the 30 I agree with Reds it's kinda pointless. Especially in a draft this even. If I did it again now without looking at my previous list I bet there'd be pretty much the same players but a different order.
