PRE Phantom Draft 2007.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Since i wont be home till later at 24 i will take Bellchambers or S Simpson depends on pick 23 but 1 of will atleast be there, cheers

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Any time limit on pick 23?

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

evo, how would you compare Tarrant and Hawkins at the same stage. Strength, athleticism, capacity for evil. Kicking- distance and accuracy. Technique.

And has Tarrant been tested against Rance? Or any other of the highly rated backs? How'd he go? Should we do this on anther thread?

Yes.

He's durable alright,he's the strongest guy in this draft. He's a pretty traditional 90's style chf/ff.Kind of like Barry Hall.

I have a mate in Bendigo who's opinion I trust and who watches them every week,he was the guy who raved to me about Andrew Collins last year too.Big fan of Tarrant.

The main reason I picked him is because we're crying out for a strong big bloke. If Schulz doesn't end up making it we're screwed.

As far as being a 'reach',he may be a little bit,but I'm pretty sure he'll go in the 20's.That Weaver dude over on Bigfruity is a pretty good judge normally and i notice he has him at #17.

Now that we've given away #19 i really don't see we have a choice. There wont be stuff all KPP's left at #51.So we either take 1 here or go without for another year.

I could've picked Grimes,Vespremi or Collier, and if we pick any of those I won't really mind, but the way I see it a big guy is in a way is 'safer' pick.Look at Schulz,he's pretty much 'failed' for 5 years and we could've still got #28 for him.A guy like Danny Meyer taken at #12 too is worth nothing, you can't give them away.

You could probably make a similar argument for picking Bellchambers too.

Yep.

As I said on the main board, (that you so discreetly "shooshed" me about), Tarrant looks to be the best kpp option at pick #18.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

While we waiting, where do you think Notte will go Scooper.

He's probably the most intruiging guy in this draft I reckon.

He'd have to turn sideways ion a shower to get wet and will takes years to develop but he definately has talent, probably as a full forward.Great hands and massive wingspan.

Could go anywhere from 16 -35 i reckon.Would be a great bet for a club who can afford some patience(which pretty much cancels us out)

Suits the weagles best I suppose, they might take him at 23.

Similar type to Hawkins, all body, little finese, takes a great pack mark. Not as impressive as Hawkins though, but then again it's rare you see a young full forward as impressive as him in the juniors.Well I never have anyway. And they don't drop to pick #18 in weakish drafts, thats for sure.

Dowler is probably a decent comparrison. You'd have to be patient with him.

I'm mainly going on what my mates told me though.Phantom may have seen him more often.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Will that dud evo be using our next 2 picks ? History shows us that he often passes where our later picks are concerned.

My bet is that with at least pick 67, he passes.

(Note: I have heard he has given Notwortha a one year extension.)

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Gimme a break,'Jordy' needed a friend.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

How typical of evo is it for him to throw away early draft picks on skinny pre-pubescent runts from other clubs ?

Fair dinkum. I've seen grandmas' with better moustaches than McMahon.

I have no idea Evo. He is a mystery wrapped in a riddle. He could turn into a just about impossible match up if he gets aerobic capcity, a bit Tarrant like. Just get on his bike. Imagine a running leading target with his hands and length. Would be a nightmare match up as a third forward. He needs to get bigger no doubt but if he could run all day that would make him more damaging. Bit of the Justin Westhoff's about him.

I think Hawthorn would be a good fit. I think between 20-45.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Hi Scoop,

Time to make a choice for Essendon (BH)

Please take into consideration that HPTiger's preference (#24) was Bellchambers, and that my preference (#25) will be McGinnity from WA.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Can't believe McGinnity lasted to pick #25.

If some of you recall, McGinnity was the one who did the tagging job on Cotchin during the U18 Champs.

We at Brisbane will look forward to when Simon Black & McGinnity can freeze out the opposition midfields.

I was nearly going to take him phantom but i went tall instead.

Re: PRE Phatnom Draft 2007.

Paul Roos will be looking for a ruckman so I will go Simpson. Was hoping Greenwood would last and I think he is a chance with our pick 18. The fact that we traded 19 for a player who isn't even in the Dogs best 22..well it ain't good.
