Tom Mitchell is a top 5 midfielder in the comp whichever way you look at it. He's a full year recovered from his broken leg.
Anyone who doesn't want a gun midfielder for the right price is crazy. 28 yo used to be right in the prime of someone's career, he's not 40. At least 3 very good years in him barring injury.
You could play Edwards permanent small fwd. Baker small fwd, gives you so many more options.
A fwd line of Jack, Lynch, Martin, Edwards, Baker and Bolton looks pretty dangerous to me

I see Edwards as a similar type to Robbie Gray and stationing him forward will mean we prolong his career. He would be super dangerous in our forward line.

Love him or loathe him, Mitchell is an A grade midfielder. Bolted in a Brownlow and finished 7th this year playing essentially half a year. Seems potting him is the ‘in’ thing - even his own club. His clearance work in our team would improve us by 20%. That doesn’t mean I’m all in for getting him, but under our terms, would be masterstroke
Umpires love him. If he comes to Richmond two things will happen. Umpires will either start to love us and pay us more frees or Mitchel won’t poll a vote with us.

I just cant see it. And I hope we dont do it personally.

Not only have we been consistent and said all along we arent bringing in senior players, we have too many young kids who need opportunities next year otherwise they will seek out opps elsewhere just like CCJ did.

RCD, Dow, Ross etc will need to be played + likely a few games for this year's mids we pick.

Gut feel:

1. Neale will see if he can get to Freo.
2. Lions will aim to replace Neale with Tom Mitchell
3. picks will go to Hawks by one / both clubs

For at least 1 of them (Dow), I'd like to think we are looking at moving Edwards forward more often, which opens up a spot for him in our midfield rotation. I like Dow, I think he has what we need and would love to see him in there.

I do agree with you, but if we want to go for another premiership, and could see JOM being the 1 we go for (if we go for either). He's slightly younger, and actually better at the things we struggle at, ie. he has a higher contested possession % than Mitchell, averages more clearances (both centre and around the ground) and probably has a bit more class. The issues around fitness are overblown. His last 4 years, he has played 72 of 85 games. We'd have to see where this puts RCD and Ross, but potentially Cotch doesn't play in our 1st choice rotation, maybe we move both Cotch and Shedda forward and have our key mids as Prestia, JOM, Bolton and Dusty.

If the kids are good enough they will play. Look at rivers, Bowen and Jordan this year with the dee's. Pushed out hibberd for a long time, melksham and more.
RCD and Dow should be looking to push out Cotch and Lambert or McIntosh and Pickett.

It looks like we may only take 3 picks into the draft so I would offer hawthorn picks 26, 28, 38, and 40 for Mitchell, pick 21 and most of his salary getting paid for 2 years. Probably overs but the time is now and hopefully we get 3 good young kids as well.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Richmond going for JOM. I think you get it done with Pick 15, probably with Hawthorn paying some of his salary, we essentially get a cheap upgrade in our midfield (salary cap wise) for a couple of years and go again. He's the type we need, great around the clearances, probably a bit more dynamic than Mitchell, and younger than Mitchell too. I'd hope we stay away from Mitchell and if we trade anyone in, we go for JOM.

Give them next years 2nd round pick we got from north - that seems to be enough . Id prefer omera to mitchell though

Interesting if we get any player from the hawks 2021 garage sale. Its like walking though a flea market convincing yourself there is something valuable you can buy, but not totally unhappy to come away empty handed and avoid buyers regret.

If we even contemplated speaking with “ Chad” I’d eat half a pack of Balmeys Tim Tams right in front of him
