It could come down to how much they want those picks. Lets say they want picks, and we are the only 1 interested. They have to decide, is it better to get the pick, pick up Cadds and take his wage but enabling the club to get Pick 15 at the same time. They would likely have significant salary cap room if they let these players go, so might work. I don't think they are just getting rid of those over 26, but those over 26 that have significant trade value to get more higher picks to fast track their rebuild.
Yeah still don't think it is likely given Cadds would have to agree, and he'd want a new contract with Hawthorn wouldn't want. I think hawks just want to shift players for picks.

They want other clubs to enable their rebuild by giving them good picks for players they know won’t be around long enough to be part of their next flag push.

Agree with that, but if we say we can't afford JOM without dropping a salary then they may be happy to take Cadds. I know Cadds has to agree to it, but I can't see him, playing first team footy with us, whereas he would likely be best 22 as a marking option in their forward line.

If they want picks, it may be that they are happy to take Cadds if it means getting Pick 15. They still get that high pick and can use up some of their cap with Cadds.

SEN going with the coach of hawthorn Sam Mitchell ‘ringing around clubs ‘ in regards to Mitchell, Omeara, Wingard??

Just wow
is he bundling them? ....got a deal for ya....

Wingards big ego will be bruising...

Gut feel says Mitchell or Omeara will be a Tiger come end of trade week.

There is too much noise now.

I voted no but now I say yes. Our outside players are way better than Hawthorns - he just has to get the pill to them - which he’s really good at!

Hawks are in this situation because they tried to take shortcuts to success and traded out picks for the very players they are now trying to offload right. I hope like hell we do not get involved in any deals for the likes of Mitchell etc and go to the draft instead.

With Sydney and Adelaide miles apart in the Dawson deal, Norf might sense they are a chance to get Dawson in the PSD. That might help us get the CCJ deal done.

What pick?

Probably 15. Not 7.

One hand on the 2022 cup, one eye on the future.

how about pick 15 and 26 for mitchell and pick 21?

No way. Pick 7 & 15 are off limits.

Pick 26 & pay half his salary

we would still get pick 21. then swap pick 38 and CCJ for pick 20. that'll give us 7, 20, 21 and 28. then we could swap 20 and 21 for an even lower pick.

Haha I don't know how anyone votes 'no' when the title says 'if the price if right'. That price may be a late draft pick and a salary split. So that means if you vote no, you don't rate Mitchell at all, which is erm...interesting.

Well I am in that category then.

Really don’t see the point of recruiting him no matter what he costs.

Pick 15 will get us a Goater or Johnson type. Rather we stick to the draft and swallow the pain re Cadd's salary, than give up the pick opportunity that is pick 15.

It comes down to whether or not you think this current group has another premiership in them. I do, but they need some support. If we added JOM this year and when Cotch and Jack retire next year we go all out for Taranto, then we have the midfield to go again whilst this group is still in the right age profile, whilst building the next group through this draft too hence why we simply have to take our 1st to the draft.

Funny thing is that the new bloke who is rebuilding the Hawks would dearly love to be in our position....and we are very much contenders in 2022!

For various reasons have always had an interest in young Tommy's career....but still would not give up any of our high picks for him.

And no club should have to, they a looking to dump him if they can, dilutes what any club should pay

Why not Braydon Sier, he'll be cheaper........yeah he's a spud of a bloke, but has shown he can play.........we have backed our Richmond Man program beforw

Tom Mitchell is a top 5 midfielder in the comp whichever way you look at it. He's a full year recovered from his broken leg.
Anyone who doesn't want a gun midfielder for the right price is crazy. 28 yo used to be right in the prime of someone's career, he's not 40. At least 3 very good years in him barring injury.
You could play Edwards permanent small fwd. Baker small fwd, gives you so many more options.
A fwd line of Jack, Lynch, Martin, Edwards, Baker and Bolton looks pretty dangerous to me

Love him or loathe him, Mitchell is an A grade midfielder. Bolted in a Brownlow and finished 7th this year playing essentially half a year. Seems potting him is the ‘in’ thing - even his own club. His clearance work in our team would improve us by 20%. That doesn’t mean I’m all in for getting him, but under our terms, would be masterstroke
