Polak To Play Against Hawks

That's great news, we probably have no choice anyways as we have no depth and just spuds to come. Back to Polak, I'm no medical expert but I'd very, VERY surprised if he got another contract. As they say, there's no place for sentiment in football.

Graham Polak to play seniors saturday night
Is this his swong song or can he earn another contract ??
Why didn't you start a thread, annoyed at the RFC for not rewarding Polak's efforts with senior selection?
You're timing would have been perfect alongside the extra information ;)

lets just hope polly holds his own and gets through the game ... sarge and prada are no hopers who will be delisted if coach Hinkley is fair dickum , not getting too far ahead of myself but we need someone to stand up and give us something out of the goal square ... Morton a flanker at best

Polak clearly deserves another contract given his age, situation and the state of our backline at the moment. Considering our tall defender stocks consist of Thursfield, Moore (not knocking Moore) and McGuane, there's certainly a place for him to at least have a chance to prove himself. McGuane has been inconsistent and unreliable this year, down on last year's form and certainly hasn't sewn up his spot in the side. Thursfield has been OK, but was destroyed by Fevola and hasn't really comprehensively beaten anybody. Moore has struggled with injury and again hasn't met his form from last year, but I still have confidence in his ability. Polak deserves a 1 year deal - there are plenty of people I'd cut ahead of him.

I reckon 2 of Polly, Sarge and Hughes will be gone next year. Hard to know who to keep but I reckon Polly might go around again if he can get a kick in the next couple of weeks.

Good on ya Polly. Good luck. What a ripper result - whether it comes to anything in 2010 or not.

I think it would be terrible for Polak to be delisted after such a remarkable recovery in only 12 months. Given our lack of mature kpps, we need a player like him on the list. All the best Polly.

Great news story, yes. But we need to be objective about what sort of player he now IS, and not on what he WAS or MIGHT have become.

For now, happy to celebrate his achievement. Truly remarkable and inspiring. Let's hope the boys lift a little better for him than they did for Bowden.

he would have to be a reasonable chance to keep his spot wouldnt he?
he has managed to get his game to the level where he is worth an afl game this year and i think you could assume he will have more physical improvement in him.
undoubtedly his cause is helped by the many others who will go and his size, but i dont if he is kept it will be out of charity or blind hope.
a couple of decent games would help no doubt.

If he was getting a token selection after not doing anything at Coburg then I'd be a lot more pessamistic, however he's been getting frequently named in the bests, so he's earned his spot. That much improvement in 12 months tells me he deserves another preseason.

Well done to Polly on getting back.

Fact is he's a terrible kick so his spot is better off with someone who has decent skills. Our backline desperately needs better kicks.

For this reason I would persist with Schulz for one more year.

lol. Still rubbing my eyes but no you did say Schulz. Schulz is still contracted for next year I believe.

Polak will get another year. He deserves it. Has been playing very well in the reserves and deserves a spot ahead of the likes of Moore who has performed very poorly this year.

I still think Schulz has talent & if we get a coach who can turn him around we will be the better for it he is a forward not defender still quite young considering he has been around for a while if our midfield can lift & we play Cotchin Deledio Collins & Tambling as permanent mids guys like Schulz Riewoldt Morton will look a lot better. I also think Polak should be given another year also still young enough & is perfect for CHB with Thursfield & Rance to hold down the other tall back positions.

Side for next year think it looks ok!!

King Thursfield Rance
Edwards Polak Newman
Tambling Cotchin Richardson
Connors Post Nahas
Morton Schulz Riewoldt
Vickery Deledio Cousins
Browne Jackson Foley Collins

Congratulations to Polak on this marvellous achievement.

He has earned his position in the team and it hasnt been given to him on a silver plate.

Depending on how he goes , he may be playing for a spot on the list these next two weeks. Personally i would retain him as we are short on his type with Jay and Hughes showing no interest or real desire to cement a spot. He is deserving of a one year contract. But his well being comes first.

Go Polly. Hope the players can lift for you. Have a great game.
