Players from other clubs out of contact? Will we shop?

No trading away draft pics,....The only way i would entertain a salopek or say a luke ball etc is in the PSD, we have money in our cap to target an uncontracted player....

On the flip side and only to add to this thread (if and i only say if) we were entertaining the thought of trading out a pic for a player, that draft pic would have to come from trading out a player from our list, IE: patto, schulz, mcmahon etc etc, if we were lucky and i mean lucky to get 3 draft pics in from trading out players "claw would luv that" i would perhaps only use "1 maximum" draft pic on a player like salopek or ball and with the extra money in our cap we could target another in the PSD if one was available....

Still think we need 7 or 8 pics in the ND, but to put my 2 bobs worth on this thread any thought of giving away a draft pic (1 max) woud have to come ONLY from trading out a player on our list....
ah your learning AT im not against getting retreads but how we go about getting them has to be right.

ya know if the rookie draft is plundered early this yr by gc late picks could be the go. when looking at what picks we may get i still believe 7 in the nd will be a maximum. would like to use one or two of those real late picks on mature wafl sanfl vfl players who have the requisite skills. again our picks will be or close to this. 3 19 35 51 67 83 if we trade into a pick theres your 7 kids. 3 rookies will make it 10 kids. my concern is we will need some half decent bigger bodied players who can actually perform a role within the team to help all the kids. one or two mature players with late picks in the nd and the psd and player for player swaps or as you say player for pick depending are ways to get older players into the club. prioritise the youth but look to short term needs as well with that youth in mind. i would be over the moon if we managed to use 7 nd picks on kids along with a full compliment of rookies after promotions and delistings.

hmm just another thought very quickly mature players who have been taken in recent times either in the rookie draft or with nd picks. players who were originaly over looked and were doing well in the wafl. h taylor ballantyne broughton wilkes priddis cockie johnston foster these are just wa boys of the top of my head theres plenty about the place worth giving a go to with late picks.as long as they have decent footskills and smarts.

going to be forced to look at mature players anyway with the compromised drafts ahead of us. Certainly will require an aspect of recruitment that Im sure many clubs havent taken too seriously in the past.

I posted a query on this earlier Goody. Hopefully with our addiontal recruiting staff, we may be able to find a couple of (gold) nuggets, as opposed to the other variety. ;D

Something that all clubs will be forced to utilise over the next few years.
I'm bloody amazed that clubs have barely touched the 20 to 22 y.o. players in recent years while blindly charging after 17 to 18 y.o. kids right through the main and rookie drafts.
With a bit of carefull evaluation young players that have missed their initial opportunity at 18 and then played two or three seasons at WAFL, SANFL or VFL level would easily slot into a competent filler role on any clubs list.

Dowler was training with us a few years ago as a junior (someone at work knew him back then and he kept telling me this kid was going to be a star). I think he is also a Richmond supporter but I stand to be corrected on that.
He was a richmond supporter before he was drafted.

No trading or recruiting recycled players in the nab draft. However should the right uncontracted player nominate 4 the pre season draft then we can start looking. Ball, another inside midfielder to add to cogs, tuck, thomson, cotchin, Jackson and deledio. We need someone with polish and hardness at the ball should they be a midfielder. Ball has hardness but not polish or speed for that matter. Lake would be my pick in pre season draft. Free up thirsty at chb, Moore as 3 rd tall
