Pick 53: Jack Graham

That's incorrect, Graham kicks a lot more than he handballs.
As i mentioned in my post Bullus " i see alot of similarities in their game style from whats written and some limited footage "
I havent seen him play so only going by whats available but in the footage it looks as though its 60-70% handballing

In your opinion what would his hanball to kick ratio as well as KE

Has had a man's build playing against boys, will be interesting to see how he goes against men. Hopefully he is a diesel Williams

Yep would love to see him break opposition player's noses week in and week out without worrying about going to the tribunal and then win a couple of Brownlows!

SA avg - 13 kicks, 11 handballs (68% efficiency)
North Adelaide u/18 - 17 kicks, 7 handballs (65% efficiency)
North Adelaide reserves - 9 kicks, 7 handballs (68% efficiency)

Those efficiency stats are the typical level of most top line inside mids.

Looking at these statts and the footage on the net its chalk and cheese, looks as though he is running at 60% kicking and 40% handball totall opposite to the highlights

Im actually pretty impressed with his efficiency rate considering he is at such a high rate with his kicking for an inside midfielder

Im really starting to warm to Graham, I hope he cements his place in the team and becomes that big inside bull we have all been waiting for

He might not a be fast but he is a good ball getter and that's exactly what we need. Dane Swan wasn't a greyhound and he wasn't a bad midfielder

I hope this kid goes well
But always worries me SA teams don't pick players like Graham when he is
SA home grown and SA captain
What's your thoughts Bullus ?

Something unusual happened this year, for only the second time in history did both SA clubs neglect the local talent pool in the main draft. This was counter balanced with six SA rookies however the go home factor appears to be less of an issue. Graham slipping through to the third round is mainly due to the depth of inside mids, last year I suspect he would have gone much higher. I think many clubs also recognised that they would be able to address their midfield needs later in the draft so they targeted others with a more unique skill-set very early. The other factor to consider is Adelaide are flush with Graham types, with guys like Ellis-Yolman playing reserves this would be their last area of need.

I'm still very surprised Sam Walker didn't get selected, don't think he could have done much more however I think flankers without extreme pace are now considered unworthy. With Andrew McGrath going number 1 and JJ getting the Norm Smith, one can see where things are headed. Do I agree with it? Hell no, Coery Enright has set the benchmark and he's hardly quick. To me Walker was cut from the same cloth, obviously not as talented but he had many AFL traits which could have compensated for his lack of pace.

I am still puzzled Graham didn't go higher.

Just looking at the list of Larke medallists, in modern times they all become A graders.

The exceptions are a few Mortons and Pettifers. Now is Graham one of those? Of course not. Big bodied leader with aggression and determination. Based on that alone, why wouldn't a club pick him at pick 6, since ever pick 6 goes wrong?

I don't know what it is but I just have this feeling this bloke will be a star. No idea why as his foot speed and skills look a little average...just reckon he has something going on

Speed doesn't matter for an inside mid. Explosion/acceleration out of congestion does.

At least on highlights Graham looks above avg in that area. Also why for all Miles smarts (I'm a fan), he's limited.
