Pick 53: Jack Graham

In defence of Jack. When we picked him up at No 46 in the national draft 2016 he was either injured or just coming off an injury and we took a punt on him. He played well enough in the season to be picked for the GF final team and scored three goals and did an immense amount of work over the ground to hammer the Crows into submission. Sure he gets injured far too much but the criticism of him being too slow, not hard enough in tackles and can't kick goals is fairly wide of the mark in his pretty good career for us to date. If we could get him conditioned right he is still a valuable player for us.
He’s absolutely made a good career, but he was an average player in an amazing team who played 3-5 great outlier games. Thankfully one of them on the biggest footballing day.

He’s now an average/below average player in a poor team. What he did over 5 years ago doesn’t magically improve the output we require from him today considering how crucial his age profile and experience should be to us right now. There was many with expectations of him being a captain right now but instead he’s becoming a list clogger

We got the best out of him and he’s a premiership player.
Might be time to send him back to his hole.

Did more than OK tonight doing the grunt work. Nine tackles certainly showed intent amd stiffend us up in the middle. Faded out a little late in the game but as he has just come back from a series of injuries it was not unexpected.

I thought he was a key reason why we were dominating the first half. Exceeded my expectations.

Not surprisingly has no base fitness and a key reason we couldn't keep up in the second half

To right. He was in everything for the 2 quarters, then faded as the other younger players.

Was great when it was wet which is his go as it suits his lack of pace . Once it dried up and the Scats got running he was caught out chasing 5m behind the play. Need it to rain all year so he can play well and get 2nd rounder for him. He's diabolically slow and even against Geelong he looked awful in the 2nd half. Just not good enough in a team like ours that lacks quality as that's what made him. He's a bottom 6 player in a top team.

From what I saw even many of the experienced players faded out in the second half. Seems w have a fitness and conditioning problem that is affecting every player

Wonder if the fall off by younger players means the older players have to work harder and therefore tire more as well? It's not just fitness, it's energy too. Seems like a viscous circle. I reckon when we get a few more senior players back it will be different as the tipping point will have shifted.

He's reached his ceiling.

Mentally he's already gone to South Australia IMO.

They won't pick him up.
Adelaide doesn't play Crouch because he is slow and he gets a 30+ every single week.
I didn't even know he was playing today..
That was dismal

17 disposals.
He just dosent look the same anymore.
There's no chasing
There's no tackling.
There's no 3 goals.

Legend of the club but it like he is 45 yrs old.
He is in his prime and that's what he puts out, 17 touches. I didn't realise he was playing.
I'm devastated
