Pick 53: Jack Graham

The people I spoke to were saying he is going to be a star before the season started. Pick #53 is an absolute steal and unfathomable considering this years draft and a player like Davies-Uniacke.

The question was can he transition to AFL......will go down as the best #53 of all time. Can run both ways and get the ball. An upgrade on Miles.

If he's an upgrade on Miles, he's an upgrade on Prestia and Caddy as well.

For those draft/junior watchers....if he is going to be as good as many are predicting, how come he lasted until pick 53?
Pretty sure he was asking the same question after the draft.
Kid won the Larke medal at the U18 comp off virtually no pre season as he'd had some bad muscle tear injuries n found himself relegated to the late pick afterthoughts when he should rightly have thought he'd be a first rounder at worst.
Most recruiters likely thought was that he was considered very physically developed compared to most of the kids so perceived growth n development was going to be minimal.

Injuries got him a fair bit again this year, but from the few games he's played at magoos level he's shown himself to be comfortably up to the level. Get a couple of full pre seasons into the kid injury free n he just might show himself to be up with the Kennedy, Parker, Cripps, Wines, Oliver type big bodied mids. If he gets around the mark of these types he'll be a massive draft steal for us.

And hopefully not prone to continuously being injured. Long career ahead we hope in the yellow and back. Add another string bow to the midfield (assuming we can keep Dusty)

I'd bring him in this week for Grigg
nah drop Bolton and make sure Shank only plays forward.

I havent seen the stats but shank rarely seems to win a centre clearance.

He is probably worth a couple of games before the season is out. Freo and Saints is probably the right time. The issue with him is that he hasn't played enough footy this year.

Hmm this sorta hyperbole before he's even completed a season at VFL level makes me concerned. Setting the kid up for whipping boy status if he hits another hurdle. How about we just be patient and see what happenes. We can call him the best 53 if he makes 100 games or something like that.

There could well be a lot of club's saying how did we not pick him.

Early days still though. Yet to even play senior footy.

Can't be far off an opportunity though..

Yep that's true TT, I remember clearly way back, when I saw a young Matty Knights playing in the 2s going home & said to my son, " we've got one here" The good thing was after that particular 2nds game at the "G" the players came up into the Northern stand & watched the 1sts. Matt stood next to me & we had a bit of a chat. From that day on I was very much a Matty Knights fan.
Hence my TT 33 avatar.

I would be a very happy person if he ver happened to come back to us.

Back in the day i had a girl in my department who was dating Greg Hamilton. The way she spoke of Knighter, i wasn't sure who she was in love with. Kept going on about how nice he is.

He's got to be putting some heat on Miles' position in the 22.
I'd play him in the 1sts from this week.
If he's a relative success then it will sure help with list management decisions heading into next season..

jeez what where the SA clubs thinking????
has the go home ALARMS all over him, toffee adelaide boy, mad crows member family & friends of the ROO.
would you sign him up now for the extra 2 years?

The thing that Graham does have over Miles is that he has a huge tank and the ability to run hard both ways, (not super quick but certainly quicker than Miles). That he is already getting Mile's like VFL numbers at the tender age of 19 and off injury bodes well.
No need to rush him into the side though, wouldn't be fussed if saw out the season under Fly and then crack in to an injury free preseason.

Nah if he's good enough, get him into the seniors now mate. No time like the present.
