Pick 12 discussion.

Garlett, Garlett, Garlett.

I agree, he is exactly what we need. He reminds me of a quicker Che Cockatoo Collins. IMHO we don't have the imagination to take him at 12. It would be a brave bold move.

Cocky cant kick. We generally don't draft players that cant kick in the first round.

Havent seen enough of him to comment but it's certainly no issue with Garlett on that front. Left or right doesn't matter.

Both players are dual-sided with excellent depth, both players can kick at speed, both players have the agility to fully maximise this skill. But all things said and done, I would rather take the player with the superior inside credentials and that player is Cockatoo.

He's on par with Dusty & Danger, you take the good with the bad.

Surely Cocky can't be too shabby when it comes to kicking if he won the draft combine kicking test with a 29/30.

It's a good measure when the pace is slowed down, I mainly use it to determine dual-sided ability. Nathan Drummond scored well in the kicking test but he is not a good kick in the field of play. It doesn't take into decision-making ability, kicking under intense pressure & kicking with opponents bearing down. I would rate Cocky's kicking as generally good, he can switch onto his non-prefered with relative ease and he gets good depth on both feet. Garlett's field kicking is marginally better but I mainly attribute this to Cocky's over exuberance, something that can be ironed out at AFL level.

As an example didn't Shane Nelson ace the kicking test? He didn't get picked up though because his kicking under pressure was terrible IIRC.

Someone ask who the Tige's will take at 12.

Brett Anderson ‏- Weller/Duggan/Ellis/Cockatoo are a chance right now.

Emma Quayle - agreed! And at this stage would think most would be available

Apologies if we're not supposed to link here, but this was a decent list of potential draftees. The bit that I like above the AFL site though is the weaknesses in the players are acknowledged here.

Yep, kicking test is a waste of time. Reckon they should have a competitive kicking test with the U18 given the ball at 70 metres out with Matt Arnott and a few more of his ilk tasked with tackling him.

Intersting. I'd be happy with 3 of those, ecstatic with one (Weller). Fingers crossed.

Ellis is the odd one out, don't want him with our first.

Spoke to someone today (richmond supporter but involved at another club) who says we are heavily into Touk Miller. I haven't had the chance to read back through to see if he gets mentioned on this thread.

Good to hear, but I'd hope we're into him with 33 rather than 12. Do rate him highly though.

Cockatoo and Miller would be a great combination.

I dont really know much about the kids but i am obviously interested at this time of year and hope like hell we pick the right kids..

Ive watched allot over the last few days of hightlights which someone has already pointed out are exactly that so hard to get a read, but as we need hard inside i didnt mind what i saw from Connor Blakely, gee he looks like a bigger Miles type, hard at it on the inside and we really need that to put Cotch and others more on the outside to hurt the opposition.. Also wouldnt be unhappy with Weller!!! :)

In Brett Anderson's IF draft we have 12/ Duggan 33/ McLean and 52/ Goodyear

Massive curve ball being thrown, Peter Wright could potentially slide out of the top ten. All reports are stating GWS are cooling & may opt for Lever, Marchbank or Goddard.

Brodie Grundy again. There is no legit reason for this unless a injury or attitude concerns have surfaced. If Wright was on the board for our pick, I'd take him. No question. Stockpile assets & get aggressive at the trade table. Forget list structure, if someone has been in the top 4 all year and falls after the season and after the combine with no real change in circumstances, it's a self perpetuating myth and clubs fall into line too scared to take the guy everyone is passing on.

BUt by taking Hunt and limiting our picks & pledging to build the midfield, the club will over look Wright if he is there.

Backed ourselves into a corner.

I reckon he'll go before 33. Having a feeling he'll be top 25ish. His leadership skills are rated extremely highly.
