Pick 12 discussion.

Who is this years Panos ?

Could be Hourigan, fitness and a lack of versatility could see him slide, but I think he'll be drafted at some stage.

Looking at the SCPaige phantom all we would need is Brisbane to take either McCarthy or Lennon at pick 7
leaving Bontempelli for the Pies at pick 10 and bada bing bada boom

Vlad: 'pick 12, Richmond'
FJ: 'player number, 1395087, Matthew Scharenberg, Glenelg

I have run the possibilities through my computer at work and come up with

- The Safeway computer is a bit old though

11% Scharenberg
27% Acres
7% Salem
46% Lennon
5% Aish
2%Freeman
1% Dunstan
1%McCarthy

You rate Batsanis Smoking ?
Yeah I do. He is a ready made midfielder with good skills. Ideal pick up late in the draft. Only knock on him is pace or lack of.

Emma Quayle on twitter is also hearing Aish could slip and Collingwood end up with both Aish and Scharenberg.

Anyone have Taylors sprint/agility times handy?

Take Hartung ahead I'd him Leysy if your looking for a midget. Billy is Aussie Jones MKII.

Concerned about his onesidedness & outsidedness Scoop? And yes made those words up. ;D

Leysy's finally got round to doing his recon on this years draft. Will give likes/dislikes soon. As usual it will be his own opinion not swayed by popular opinion.

This is given some booms with some busts over the years. ;D

Didn't test but I can assure you he's near the top of the class, his lateral movement is a major weapon and his acceleration is also deadly. GWS will get a bargain.

Seems like all the draft experts have us taking Lennon at 12 apparently the most offensive player in the draft does that mean he doesn't tackle?

Pick 12 – RICHMOND
Ben Lennon

Club: Northern Knights
D.O.B.: 5.7.1995
Height: 188cm
Weight: 77kg
Position: Medium Forward/Utility
Plays Like: Dayne Beams

With talent like this available, Ben Lennon will not get past the Tigers here at pick 12, which is an absolute gift at this selection. Lennon initially trained with Richmond for a week earlier this year, as part of his AFL-AIS club placement, and the Tigers were immediately impressed with what they saw, however believed they would not be in the draft earlier enough to see him return to the Tigers once more. Lennon however, is the best offensive player in this year’s draft pool, and offensive weapon who is as dangerous as he is damaging – Lennon is an extraordinary talent. Although he’s had his critics, Lennon has saluted and executed everything asked of him this season, in what has been a demonstration of his character, work ethic and desire to compete at the next level. In the past Lennon has been comfortable off half forward, where his speed, agility and incredible marking game and a long, long penetrating kick have served him well, recruiters dared him to take his game to the next level and push up into the midfield, and towards the end of the TAC Cup season, Lennon didn’t disappoint. The move did Lennon wonders, averaging 28 disposals and two goals a game, it bought out areas of Lennon’s game that perhaps hadn’t been exposed, such as his vision, awareness and ability to really link up and prove a damaging kick going inside 50. Lennon’s strengths are his kicking and his marking, and he’s also been discussed as a player who can play a variety of roles, even off half back where some recruiters really fancy him. Lennon’s versatility means that he could prove to have some serious x-factor. He offers excitement, passion and can really turn the momentum of games with one act of brilliance. Lennon was also a three-way joint winner of the clean hands test, and rated highly in the kick rating testing at the combine, whilst also averaging 28 disposals playing for Vic Metro in the championships this year.

Other Prospects: It’s really a best available basis here for Richmond, and they’ll get their hands on one of the top 10 sliders, which looms to be Lennon. Christian Salem was originally thought to have been available here, but that looks to have diminished. Some recruiters believe that Matthew Scharenberg or Marcus Bontempelli could be available at pick 12 – which is hard to fathom given their high interest further up the pecking order.

Would fit well with Martin Deledio Ellis Houli Knights etc all great long kicks to break open any zones!

Who would the experts prefer out of Lennon and Bontempelli, given the HeraldSun "experts" have us taking Lennon and Bontempelli going to Carlton at the next pick.

Lennon, I think he's a better fit.

Agree, safer bet too. Bontempelli the could end up anywhere between Cale Morton and Scott Pendlebury

SCPaige has just updated her Phantom and has Richmond selecting Ben Lennon (12), Riley Knight (50) & Will McGuiness (66). What I found interesting was the sheer quality of players available between 50-60.

51. Chris Cain
52. Alex Spina
53. Darcy Byrne-Jones
54. Louis Herbert
55. Karl Amon
56. Jared Jansen
57. Tom Langdon
58. Nick Bourke
59. Nick Holman
60. Darcy Hourigan

Anyone who suggests this is a weak draft is looking at things from a very narrow focus. It's weak for KP players but as far as small forwards and midfielders are concerned, I think there's some decent depth.

Agreed. Draft is deepish. There are only a few elite talents but a lot of good solid B-graders to be had later, some of which if they can fill in some holes could do well. I think there will be a lot of early busts though or average players.

Any of those Conca/Ellis/Vlastuin types available this year?

Zak Jones is the above prototype for leysy.

Leysy has him a clear notch above other more highly touted types like Freeman & Taylor. Would mush prefer we take him if it came to those three at 12.

Think there will be some busts amongst the top dozen or so this year (as always), but this guy will roll through 200 quality games no problem ILO. Think Cam Guthrie along with your trio.

Hmmm, from leysy's viewings of champs games & highlights have seen those evasive skills Bully, but not that elite top-end speed guys his height need to succeed. Nice, neat, skilled & composed player but he's a query for leysy. At least at the pointy end of the draft.

I think repeat sprints is a better indication of pace than one off sprints, especially with the way the game is headed with reduced rotations. Repeat sprints is more transferable as a measure in my opinion.

I'd agree.
