Pick 12 discussion.

Yep, i just don't get it. For impact those two will probably go top 5 in the Rising Star, I'm over FJ and his conservatism.

He's been the same for years.
And every year we dare to dream that with the benefit of another years experience, and hindsight, he will blossom into a beautiful Stephen Wells-type butterfly.
But it just ain't gonna happen.
Herein lies a problem.
Draft conservatively, get blue collar workers, but not the polish required to excite and ignite at the highest level.
Groundhog day.

Franks delivering on list management priorities. Hardwick wants reliable foot soldiers and that's driving the recruiting agenda.

don't want to bag the kid but I just can't see how he's a pick 12. Agree with some questioning Jacksons conservatism

Laverde guaranteed will be a better and more VALUABLE type player than boring Ellis. Watch!!!

Money back guarantee? I liked Laverde too but you do have to wonder why he dropped to 20. Even Essendon didnt choose him as their first selection. 7 teams after us didnt select him either.

Was talking to a mate(who was a good player himself) tonight whos son will be drafted next year, watched all the games this year and said the kids we picked can all play. Drummond really impressed him, Menadue very good and quick and McKenzie is a big unit that can kick bags. So I guess im prepared to wait and see.

If FJ really rates Ellis as a top 3 player, above either Brayshaw or Petracca, I've completely lost confidence.

Guys Ellis is a Tiger now and it's in our best interests he becomes a great player. Have some confidence and give him support. We got plenty of flash and speed in this draft, no need to *smile* and moan.

This is an open forum, people can express their opinions, Ellis will receive my support, that doesn't mean I have to agree with the decisions.

He never said that. He said his was one of the best 3 players when it came to kicking.

I'm aware with that and I'm not saying you have to agree but I think everyone is well and truly aware on your opinion regarding Ellis.

There is so much to be happy about with this draft.

I rate our draft as a 7.5/8.0 out of 10

Weller/Laverde would of been my preference ( Bullus & I were mad on *smile* but wells wanted him more -Im glad geelong took him as i would of been bleeding watching him knowing that FJ didnt have the 84LL5 ) - Still i cant see why Laverde slide so far, Something here that just doesnt make sens his football ability is certainly top 10 and his physical abilities are aswell something just not right here

Menedue - Im wrapped with really really excited about this kid (2-3 years away from being ready but i have been a Tiger supporter for 50 years and im not giving it away soon so will enjoy connors football for a while and he will benefit from playing in a strong team )

Drummond - Not really sure about this selection, But being a late pick hope it comes off for us but with Gore still on the table - I certainly would of been happier with Gore at #52

Butler - Again a late selection and has the tools and been compared to a Jamie Elliot (hope thats the case) and ends up a gem in the late rounds

McKenzie - Love this selection, I was hoping for a KPF with a rookie pick but never thought this boy would be available at #77 Massive Massive Bargain
Kid needs to lose about 5 kgs then gain it again but muscle , great speed and leap with a massive grab on him with huge hands and markes the ball at the highest point
has all the tools to become a 50-60 goal FF and could become our Jack Riewoldt replacment in 5 years time. Needs development and we are not really in a rush so let McBean/McKenzie duo dominate the vfl for a couple of years

Hoping for in the rookie draft
Inside mid,Tyler Keitel,Rookie Ruckman

Just spoke to a pretty die hard Tiger supporter and he said our selections were excellent. I cannot remember which one he is referring to but said one of the players was a Leon Cameron clone and he was so happy we snapped him up.

He also said that Ellis was better than most gave him credit for. Injury had not helped him this year but if fit, would have been a top 10.

Maybe I over reacted last night - so welcome to our newest Tiger cubs :hearton

I think you have made it very clear how you feel about Ellis.

I was disappointed we did not take Weller.

But will let Ellis prove himself against the one that came after.

Love that we took Menedue and Drummond. I will talk about Drummond more on his welcome link.

Also love that we Butler and McKenzie. Both picks look like they could be anything... Does anyone agree with me that Butler's highlights reel is the best highlights reel of any player in the draft... I was astounded! It was so good it almost guarantees he will never play an AFL game!

Jeez, one comment about FJ rating Ellis as a top 3 selection (which was corrected by Smokey) and I cop it from all angles. Cheers.

mate not copping it at all.

I appreciate your views, but I think we are left in no doubt that you rated Wheller and Nakia and don't think Ellis is must chop. Lets just embrace the boys we have got and support them as best we can.

Keep punching

Yep, I would have taken Weller, Laverde, Garlett, Lever & Durdin ahead of him. Sometimes I wonder if FJ is in self-preservation mode, just reach in the first round and get a solid citizen, no imagination. Just look at what Wells just pulled off, an audacious trade and then a high risk, high return player like Cockatoo. We will be jogging on the spot now, out Jackson, in Ellis, no net gain whatsoever, no flare or polish on the outside for another 2-3 years either. As for Drummond, I hope he learns to hit up targets because some of his TAC form was very ordinary.

Drummond is a very good kick, and his tac form was really good, strange comments .
