That Weller does not fit the hardwick mould. He will never be a good average footballer, posses to much star qualities

Didn't know Hardwick was the head of recruiting, must have got that wrong.

He's responsible for everything apparently.

Get rid of him and this top 4 list will become a superpower.

So the head of recruiting does anything he likes recruits whoever he wants?
IMO Dimma as the head coach would tell head of recruiting what type of player he needs and it's upto recruiters to draft them.
In the end if we don't make finals and win one in 2015 Dimma as head coach is to blame

I think Blair Hartley would have a fair say being our list manager and all. If you'd watched the doco at the start of the yeR, you can clearly see Dimma deferring to him and Frank.

I agree with that, if you watch the footage of the draft night and look at the face Hardwick pulled when he was informed that we were drafting Menadue and that he would take three years to develop.

It's a good question. Who has final say.

We desperately need pace. We desperately need kicking skills.

Who decides if we get that at free agency or the draft table.

There is only 1 bloke that makes that decision . And it has to be Blair .

Yarran one of the silkiest players you will see, however the last bloke I'd want playin for us in a big game, mentally and physically soft, misses big goals when it matters an when it gets real hard looks like a scared kid playin

Like any organisation, decisions would be made as a group with input from the coach. No one person makes the decisions.

I'll give you the Abbott Government as an example where that wasn't the case.

Can't speak for Abbott government, but let me rephrase then, any organisation wanting to be successful make decisions as a team, not as individuals.

Article at "The cannot be named" website suggests Milera could be gone in the top 6, maybe even to the Gold Coast. Might be tough to get him at 12.

The coaches tell the recruiters what player types they are after.

What attributes they want.

"Gimme a speedy wingman with good outside skills."

The recruiters pick the actual players that best fit the template handed down by the coaches.

Francis knows the kids. Blair knows what the list profile should look like. Dan knows the contract structures.

Speculation - Dimma had less say in the 2014 crop than usual. You get the feeling he'd pick sturdy vanilla one pacers forever and a day.

Blair would have a strong say as overall list manager.

What happens when a head coach is heading into his final contract year?

Fireworks.

He tends to get those types through trades, recycling rookies etc. Drafting new talent has netted us Lennon, B and C Ellis, Menadue, McBean etc etc.

You could argue there has been a shift towards more skill less grunt in recent years. How much is Dimma/Blair is hard to know.
