Conca profile was on the site 36 hours before the draft, everyone knew he was ours weeks before the draft.

I'll take back the Ellis one as it was a little obscure and the compromised draft made it tricky. Mind you the smart followers knew who the right pick was. ;D

If one of Lennon or Salem are on the board, I'll be shocked if we don't take one.

Actually, Conca was a bigger surprise if I remember correctly. While Stig did help us find out in advance, I'm pretty sure it caught many off guard. At least the rage on here when he was announced early made it seem it wasn't anywhere near known.

Not sure about that. I reckon he was a monty. I had Dyson Heppell as my pick from just after the carnival as a second round pick but he went nuts the back half of the year. I was begging for us to take him.

Dyson Heppell in his draft year came back after the Champs and went nuts in the TAC cup. Think he polled about five best on in the last eight weeks. Went from a second or third round pick to top 10.

Yep spot on. Vlastuin we knew at least a month out of the draft. Conca was another one that was known.

I will even go far back as Vickery's draft. It was known to be either Vickery or Hartlett for our first pick.

FJ has said that they follow these players for two years and know well in advance who their preferences are.

If they are both gone it will be interesting, can't see us taking Sheed to be honest, he just doesn't strike me as a typical FJ pick. Crouch is a curious one, he's a ball magnet but one who's a bit rough around the edges, again I think FJ will baulk. Tsitas would be more the type we'd target, I'm not so sure he's in the frame for pick 11, but I don't think there's a huge amount separating the two, and the latter maybe available in the second round.

For me it's still out of Lennon, Freeman, Salem and Taylor.

Yes, I recall Smokey and I both jumped on the Ellis train with you - certainly a very astute selection.

Glad that Lennon is in the frame. I would love Sheed to fall but I don't see it happening. Not as sold on Salem as others. Don't think he will be a bust but not sure how good he can be in the long run.

Agree, Lennon is the right fight and is the modern day big onballer who can hit the scoreboard. The Dusty Martin comparison isn't too bad. I think he is Dusty without the brute force. Although surprisingly Dusty is more of an outside player than people think. I'm fine with him.

Lennon doesn't have the marking aspect of Fyfe . Lennon is an elite ball user. His kicking is his biggest asset.

Was a bit of talk on the radio this morning that we really like Kade Kolodjashnij, i havent seen him mentioned a great deal on here.
Do those in the know think he wont be there? Not our type? Too early?
Looking at most phantom drafts they have him top 10 but also mention he was a late bolter.

Strong rumour that Kade will go to the Gold Coast at pick 5. Lennon unlikely to make it to us at 12. One of Brisbane, GWS & Collingwood at picks 7 to 11 will snap him up.

I've spent all year getting my pronunciation of Vlastuin just right, I don't think I could deal with Kolodjashnij!?!

i thought i had it under control too but dh pronounced it quite differently on jack dyer night.
