Pick 12 discussion.

I reckon we should have a good look at Cocky with our 2nd pick. He'll be a good balance to Ellis

Agree, Brandon's endurance would compliment Cocky's speed & power.

Cocky will not make it to pick 30

if west coast or richmond dont take him he will be at North next year.

Fantastic news, it just about guarantees Laverde or Weller will be available.

Laverde would be a dream, But i would also be content with weller provided we managed a Maynard or similar type with our 2nd

Yep. Weller plus any of Maynard, Neal-Bullen, Miller or Gore would be great. But if we got Laverde I wouldn't care who else we drafted :hihi

The starnge thing about the draft is that there will be around 65 players selected and another 40-50 odd in the rookie draft

Out of 100-120 players selected only about 10-15 will make it and only about 5-7 will become top players

So the chances are we would be lucky to get 1 very good player but we are still so excited about the 10 players we will get

Here's my first round prediction -

1) Petracca
2) Brayshaw
3) McCartin
4) Pickett
5) De Goey
6) Ahern
7) Goddard
8) Duggan
9) Moore
10) Wright
11) Laverde / Weller
12) Laverde / Weller
13) Durdin
14) Lever
15) Langford
16) Cockatoo
17) Garlett
18) Heeney
19) Marchbank
20) Lamb

Not bothering with top 20, it's impossible. I'll be impressed with anyone that gets a 50% strike rate after the first three.

Solid. Ours are pretty similar bar Cockatoo/De Goey. I noticed Quayle thinks De Goey will go top 5 too, she's usually pretty accurate. I hope you're right, would be beside myself if we got Laverde.

Recon this will be pretty close to the actual order. Happy with Weller.

When does EQ do her Phantom Draft?

My source has just reinforced the Duggan-GC story. He better be right or no more Japanese toys for his kids.

Wasn't by all accounts this draft very strong for key position players or at least it was seen like this a while back?
Wright, Goddard, Durdin & Lever appear the cream of them. I am pretty surprised that a couple of them now seem to be expected to slip somewhat.
Good talls are hard to come by. Hope we're not leaving ourselves short by purely favouring mids.

It's a real worry.
Thinking we have enough quality talls in Vickery, Griffiths, Hampson and Elton (only to find none of them really make the grade), and thus pass on a quality tall prospect like Wright should he be available at 12, would be classic Richmond.

Plus next year is mostly mids right?
