Pick 12 discussion.

Wasn't by all accounts this draft very strong for key position players or at least it was seen like this a while back?
Wright, Goddard, Durdin & Lever appear the cream of them. I am pretty surprised that a couple of them now seem to be expected to slip somewhat.
Good talls are hard to come by. Hope we're not leaving ourselves short by purely favouring mids.

Of those four Tooheys, I rate Wright & Durdin a long way head of the other two on exposed form. Lever is a question mark based around the knee and I've never been a fan of Goddard. Just don't rate him. But the first two, I really rate. Durdin is a super athlete and reminds me of Jarrod Roughead. Great mover and great below his knees. The way our list has been structured, we really don't have choice but to go at the mids hard. We have ignored it for far too long as I've harped on about. With the A grade talent in place, we must find another 4-5 rotational mids. And genuine mids. Not Helbigs, not McIntosh, not McDonaugh but mids who've played that role for there entire footballing life.

Here's my first round prediction -

1) Petracca
2) Brayshaw
3) McCartin
4) Pickett
5) De Goey
6) Ahern
7) Goddard
8) Duggan
9) Moore
10) Wright
11) Laverde / Weller
12) Laverde / Weller
13) Durdin
14) Lever
15) Langford
16) Cockatoo
17) Garlett
18) Heeney
19) Marchbank
20) Lamb

Would be a great outcome if somehow Lever,Durdin make their way up that list Bullus (hoping Cats consider Lever/Durdin over wright)

If Its Between Weller/Laverde West Coast would surely go for Laverde with his Speed,Height,Athletism They currently have a few small'ish mids
gaff-181
masten-179
bennell- 179
Karpany-176
Hutchings -181
cripps-183
shuey-183
McGininty-183
lecras-183

looking like a dwarf side ;D

Hang on.Now my source says Langford has said he expects to go to GC at 8. what a raffle.

Think he means Langford to GC with 15, they are very interested. I still hear conflicting stories about the draft invitations, I would love someone confirm whether or not Langford is there.

Durdin or Lever to the Cats in the event Wright goes to GWS.

This draft is pure madness.

Garlett to Richmond is mail from another club.

Weller to Geelong.

Judging by the late invites Geelong will go tall, Durdin got a late call-up so I suspect he goes to the Cattery if Wright gets picked up early.

I agree on Durdin to the Cats but the Weller mail was from a good source.

Pickett is in our mix.

Doesn't want to play ruck? Afraid of the contest?

My guess is he's pushed the stay home factor, Collingwood won't select him due to Moore and Melbourne get a decent tall in McCartin. Geelong the big winners here.

We take Ahern before Ellis, the way I see it we get one of Laverde, Duggan, Weller, Lever or Ahern.
will be thrilled with any of these. as a checklist to follow, say we get one of those, who would be good gets at 33, 52, 70 to have nailed the Draft. ditto for if we get Wright or Ellis at 12 as well.

the AFL Phantom Draft
bit of a contradiction here. it has Ellis at #12 and says = "If not him? Lachie Weller and Liam Duggan are among the handful of other options, but one or both could be gone by Richmond's pick".
it has us picking Ellis with only Duggan (11) off the list......
then for later picks =

RICHMOND
Picks: 12, 33, 52, 67, 77, 83
With four live selections, the Tigers will obviously be hoping for some talent to get through late. They've shown an interest in small forward Toby McLean, and he would offer something new and vibrant to their forward line with his high-marking and goalkicking smarts. The Tigers liked Dan Howe last year but, like every other club, overlooked him come draft time. He's had a better season this year and is in the Tigers' mix at 33, while hard-at-it midfielder Nathan Drummond is a chance later having put together an impressive back half of the season. South Australian inside midfielder Dean Gore is also considered a possibility. Richmond is more likely to use five picks at the draft and hold pick 83 over for a rookie or pre-season selection.

Imagine the melt down if we pick Ellis with Lever, Laverde and Weller on the table.
