Palestine and Israel

Wonder if Israel is going to claim there are tunnels under the dingy, or perhaps they are really hamas out there fishing, surrounded by an invisible human shield.

I don't want to hear what the zionist apologists have to say. This man says enough!

It's easier to look away than do something. The only thing we have control over is at the ballot box, however the 2 party political system we have in place here are both pro war, pro genocide. Colonisation and genocide is ingrained in our imperial system and nothing will change - children dying is no big deal. Albo can add accessory to genocide to his resume -

I’m no Albanese admirer but that is absolute *smile*.

Just wondering K3, when you say "Zionist' , what do you mean? Just asking.

Hey mate.

I gotta say, I probably use it incorrectly, certainly from the initial, historical Zionism.

The way I see it in 2024 is with looking through the lens of usage by the Israeli government that has been voted in for many years now. Anyway... I believe Zionism was created with the goal of there being a 'homeland' for Jewish people, in Palestine; as someone who doesn't believe in God and the Bible, imo it is all nonsense. Now, in 2024, as has been reiterated a number of time by Netanyahu etc. Zionism's initial goal has been 'reworked' so that the Jewish 'homeland' is now "from the river to the sea". It is this 'altered' version of Zionism that is being used as a call-to-arms for the genocide that continues to take place in Palestine, and what I refer to as (modern day) Zionism.

While I think the initial Zionism movement was understandable, yet still a colonising settler movement, the new version being espoused isn't.

It's late and I probably shouldn't be trying to make sense, but I hope that did and that I don't want to rewrite the whole thing tomorrow...

That would be correct.

Zionism is a political movement to create a homeland for the Jewish people in what was mandate Palestine or part of the Ottoman Empire when the movement started. From memory it started in the late 19th century, maybe a bit later. There were already moves by Zionists to buy land in Palestine in the 1930s.

I have heard it said that the local Palestinians and the Jews who did go to Palestine back in the 1930s co-existed a lot better until the state of Israel was founded and the Europeans (those the Nazis didn't kill) turned up.

In any case, Zionism is a political movement to establish a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine.

Jewish purchases of land in Palestine goes back to the 1880s but the largest was what was called the Sursock purchases in the 1930s.
It is sometimes used as a diversion from the illegal takeover of land in the West Bank ( “they purchased some of it”) but the total acquisition was only about 5-6% of Palestine.
It stopped in 1948

Yeah, I didn't look this up and was a bit hazy on when the Zionist movement started. It was back in the late 19th century then.

The Nakba happened, it does the Zionists no good to put out propaganda such as the above. When she started to talk about Palestinians using the Nakba to justify terrorism I turned off, have they ever read their own history, ever heard of the Stern Gang?

Claiming that somehow Israel did not displace hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who were thrown off their land just prolongs the problem. Israel and Zionists need to be honest about the Nakba, the fact they lie about it just shows they are not serious about solving this problem by any other means than removing Palestinians from the territory in Netanyahu's middle east map at the UN.

Here's a solution, impose a 2 state solution:

https://johnmenadue.com/achieving-the-two-state-solution-in-the-wake-of-gaza-war/

Israel clearly will not allow a Palestinian state, they offer no solution.

Palestinians and their leadership don’t want a 2 state solution to work. Neither does Israel now.

Interesting when DoD questioned on the demographic in Gaza
Willo, this is disgusting

Are you seriously suggesting these people were not killed, that somehow UNRWA or someone else are making the numbers up?

Is that where the defence of what Israel is doing in Gaza has now got to ? Trying to somehow discredit stats about people dying and being injured?
