Yeh that's what I said H.
I can totally understand their desire to wipe out Hamas.
Hamas are a despicable organisation. They are happy to sacrifice their own women/children (I mean when you have multiple wives what's one or two less hey?) in their desire to wipe Jews and other non-believers from the face of the earth.
The root of the problem though is religion. And islam in particular.
So Hamas slaughters women and children (with glee) then hides behind their own babies/sick/women etc. You endorse that?
Nothing can ever justify dropping bombs on hospitals and children.
You don’t think that Judaism is at the root of the problem as well ? You don’t think the belief that Jews have that they are the chosen people who will occupy the promised land in readiness for the arrival of the messiah is a big part of the problem?
In any conflict there are the goodies & the badies. In this instant the Palestinian badies are on the run from the Israeli goodies because they bit off more than they can chew. I get the impression you are anti Israeli anti America anti anything that is not lefty wing full stop.
Can you explain to everyone on this forum why you think the Israelis are goodies?

The simple fact that you think this is about goodies and baddies and being “ lefty wing” is a give away about how little you actually understand the conflict.
But no one should be surprised by that of course.
Actually I'm none of those things. I'm more centre right from a political standpoint, but what I look for are the real reasons for the conflict.
As for Israel / Hamas / Palestine. Neither of the 1st 2 of those 3 are good guys.

So when the Israeli defence minister says they intend to "eliminate Gaza" that's fine is it?
When the Israel government blockades Gaza for at least the last 15 years, restricting power, water food etc, that is also fine?
Israeli minister Amichai Eliyahu endorsed the use of nuclear bombs in Gaza.
Senior Likud member and former minister Galit Distal Atbaryan said Israel must invest all its energy “in one thing: erasing all of Gaza from the face of the Earth.”
Defence Minister Yoav Gallant called the people of Gaza (over 1 million of whom are children) “human animals”. It was he who ordered a “complete siege” of Gaza, cutting off water, food, fuel and electricity.
Mekomit, an Israeli news site, released a leaked Israeli Ministry of Intelligence “concept paper” a couple of weeks ago. Key points: drive the Gazans to the southern end of the Strip. Clear an opening at Rafah. Establish tent cities in the Egyptian Sinai. In other words: kill or ethnically cleanse 2.3 million Palestinians, ending their long life in Gaza. Netanyahu’s office says it only represents “initial thoughts”.
Are you starting to understand why some Palestinians are sick of this, why there are a lot of people calling this a genocide?

Just to be clear that does not mean all Jews are despicable. There are many wonderful people who are Jewish both here and in Israel. They are being drowned out. We have a family friend essentially excommunicated from her family in Israel because she could not live there
The interesting/appalling thing is that if you write what you have written above and put in the words “Jews” instead of Palestinians or people of Gaza, it is starting to sound like the holocaust!
I will never understand how they could go through what the did in the holocaust and then treat another group of people in the way they have treated the Palestinians. I just don’t get it.

Totally agree, I don't care what religion people are, race is a construct and similarly don't care what race people are (in any case "race" has no basis is human genetics). I care if people are fundamentalists, in any religion, because they generally misinterpret their religious texts to suit their ideas/purposes/ideology.
I will never say Jews are the issue, the issue is Israel and Zionism. It is not anti-semitic to call out what various Israeli ministers or powerful people say, nor is it anti-semitic to oppose Zionism and to oppose what Israeli governments have been doing to the Palestinians for decades. In fact, to label any opposition to Israel, or questioning of its actions over decades, as anti-semitic, is to cheapen the whole concept of anti-semitism - anti-semitism is very real and needs to be called out.
Opposition to Zionism and Israeli oppression of Palestinians is a political position.
There is often a degree of competitive victimhood in the Israel/Palestine debate. Both groups have a case. One of the saddest things about the way Israel acts is that they do know what it is like to be treated as sub-human, they should know better than to do the same to Palestinians.

Of course that is a problem. And a massive part of it. The illegal settlements of the ultra orthodox jews have done nothing but fuel the divide.
Extreme religious belief is dangerous.
Im not pointing out one hospital. Hamas hide amongst their own people. Knowing, after their actions last month that a lot of them will suffer further.
Hamas are murderers in the name of Islam. They are not heroic defenders of a persecuted people. They want to eliminate all jews. They use their own people as shields. Happily. Because they believe the next step is to go to paradise.
What Israel does is also despicable. What they have done in Gaza is despicable. FWIW I cannot stand both sides. Religious ideology at its finest.
I deal with a number of people of the jewish faith here on a weekly basis. As a group they are the most selfish, self-indulgent people I know. They do think they are the chosen people.
Nico I said " in this instant ". You must concur that if Hamas Palestinians had not crossed into Israel with evil intent there would be no gooddies or baddies in this historical human disaster.
Anyway Hamas has achieved a victory winning the war as they know have every sympathetic woker on their side. This lot do care a rats about the dead Israelis who the Hamas slaughtered as Israel is an ally of the western world espescially US of A.
