Operation Get Mick!

Mick won't go to the Saints. Why would he want to tear down a financial basketcase and then try to rebuild. It's a 15year ugly job.

Mick to the Tiges. We can dream. If we pulled it off and in a role that everyobe is happy with then we'd need to commission a brass statue of Benny to be placed alongside Jack.

MALTHOUSE WALKS OUT

i guess we could all see this coming
well done Eddie, you have made every other club happy as Buckley gives you Buckley`s chance of any near future success

memo to B.Gale nows the time
to appoint your new senior assistant to Hardwick

Eddie says that he wants Buckley as a 10 year coach - i'm rapt with hearing that news as it means that should the pies plummet down the ladder in the next few years, Eddie would be hard pressed to knife his mate in the back - to the detriment of his own position as president. I can see infighting down the track at Vic Park with either the coach or president or even both becoming casualties.

OPERATION GET MICK - ALL FOR IT!!!!

The only issue I have with Mick coming back to the club is that he strikes me as a man who was born to coach. I just cannot see him filling any other role.

Maybe after a year off he might be able to fill another role, but it will be tough.

Agree Streak. Mick has been the boss man for 28 years. He will take next year off but the jungle drums will be deafening to give him the main gig in 2013 should our 2012 not go as hoped. Just hope Hardwick is not spooked into any short-term decisions and that the board continues to take the long view.

Don't bring him back, 12 years 3 losing GF's and the only win was over a mentally weak stkilda.
As much as they did want him to stay, there was alot that wanted him gone.
Can't see him working well with Hardwick and currently would not be wise paying so much money for a Assistant.
Malthouse is gone. That's it. Finish.
We want Sheedy
We want Graig
We want Malthouse

What we need is footballers that can play and the group currently at the club have shown they can develop and improve players.
The last thing I want is we make the 8 or top 4 and it was all Malthouse's doing...

P.s. Can't go to stkilda, Milne is still there!

Why would you want him? Malthouse and Buttifant stuffed up massively and could have cost the Pies the cup through their terrible planning of the season. I called it in March, going all out to win the pre season cup was sheer lunacy!

One of the best home and away seasons on record, massive percentage, and they barely gave a yelp when it counted in the finals. They simply peaked way too early, huge error from the coaching staff and the buck stops with Mick.

Reading the articles Mick decided 6 weeks ago. Maybe he has already agreed on his future somewhere else. Like he did at West Coast in his last season he secured the Pies job.

Personally think he will take time off, then believe we will see him at RFC.

Will be senior coach of stk
For some reason he seems to hate the Sooks with a passion. I doubt he'll go there. He'll take a year off, probably commentate or something, but may take up another senior role in 2013. It won't be with Richmond, though, and I don't think the club should upset the applecart when things are genuinely progressing with the setup at the club. Honestly, wasn't it fantastic to watch other clubs implode, knowing there was stability down at Punt Rd?

Buckley will be our version of Francis Bourke.
Pies make 2012 GF and Lose
Player walkout-Penders,Thomas,Cloke.
2013-Miss 8>>>Buckley and Eddie thrown off the West Gate
2014-Malthouse returns.

Maybe, but St.Kilda couldn't even give Ross Lyons an answer after 6 months, so how would they move quickly on Malthouse?

Though it would be hilarious if they appointed Robert Harvey. :banana

Most likely scenario for the Saints. They've missed the full basket of prospective coaches and are left with Eade, a worn out MnM who needs a gap year to recharge and reassess, a couple of fringe assistant coaches and their favourite legend in Harvs.
They've already given Harvs the temporary title even though the season is over and there's no footy to be played, just so he can help with list and draft management.

That's nonsense, if he stayed with collingwood I'd wager they would win another 1-2 flags over the next 5 years with the squad buckley is about to inherit. The guy has proven he can develop playing lists and regularly get his teams into finals. 6 Grand Finals for 3 flags isn't a bad record over 20 years, how many finals have we made in 30 years?

Agree with this...Malthouse would cost money that we could spend on recruiters to help us get footballers who can actually play and win games...
No matter what coaches we have we are still going to need the best cattle on the park...
