Yep. Watch the manufacturing care the bombers players had when Dea went down and was stretched off. Just a week or two after Conca went down. You could see the genuine concern, care and feeling our boys had for each other. The bombers, well, it was a sense of duty type think. Especially Goddard, the last there and didn't even look at Dea when he got there.

Teams are all trying for the "connected" but it's something that doesn't come easy and must be lead by the Coach. The Scott brothers will never be able to exposure their vulnerabilities to their teams to get this connectedness going. Even Buckley will have issues.
Well said , this intangible is something that can look very scripted if it ain’t genuine

Just saying its easier for a chef to cook a great meal when they get access to lobster and steak, rather than fish heads and carrot tops.

weve got fish heads and carrot tops in our recipe.

sam lloyd, jack reiwoldt, reece conca.

With the Dees disgracing themselves today, Roos, Lyon and Healy wont be gloating, and will have had the smugness knocked out of them :rofl

They'll just glance over it and pile the crap on Richmonds for our embarrassing performance.

Watching the Dees getting reamed is cheering me up a bit.

Johnny brown will tear Melbourne apart on Tuesday night. I bet he says something about Petracca. Needs to get fitter etc

Bet the 3 Dees Twits will dissect mor the Richmond loss than the Dees hammering in Perth
The Dees were brave
Richmond self imploded like the tigers of old back to there old ways blah blah blah
Watch how biased it will be
Or they might be at the snow ...I hear there’s still some great snow coverage

I totally agree with Poosy about what Liam Jones and another 2 players did with the 'behind the ball punch'. These incidents should suspend the player instantly instead of Gill the Dill pumping up his revenue raising methods.

Do players really pay the fine?
How do they pay it? BPay? Withdrawn their Savings account? Post Office?

Probably not.

Healy was funny but true in saying it could be pre-paid in that it gives any player a chance to plan to hit someone without getting suspended.

Yep. Taking a bloke out off the ball is old school footy. With all the video *smile* n punishment for retaliators the gutless instigators should be nailed hard. Supposedly professional career of elite sport, yet the last thing the suits want to clean up is the cheap n nasty gutless sniper.
Give a few like Jones a week for putting the shoulder through an opponent thirty or fifty metres off the play or dropping the knees into someone already down and the coaches will stop their players doing it in an instant.
Would rather accept the old shirt front in play being reinstated than watching squibs getting a tap on the wrist for *smile* fifty metres off the contest.

Hear hear, totally agree.

After all, we have three field umps plus the guys on the boundary, while every game has a squilion cameras. These incidents shouldn’t go unnoticed, but importantly ought not be ignored and the perpetrator needs to be duly held to account.

It’s not a careless act!

Agree with this but I would go a little harder with one week automatic and another week for every 10 meters off the ball they do it.

yep agreed with roos. The premise is the extent of the injury dictates the penalty. It is ludicrous, logically and philosophically. People have been saying so for years, but instead of winding it back they are ramping it up. By this logic, anybody whoever hit des tuddenham or frances bourke would have got off. Someone who set out to knock someone into next week but doesn't quite connect gets $2k fine, someone who tries to shake an opponent off but clips them in the sweet spot (cough Bachar), gets 5 weeks.

Yep snake needs to primarily be about intent not consequence.

i've started watching rugby union since being overseas. Internationals, 6 nations, world cup. There is none of this cheap and weak hits - jumper punches and gut punches.
Played hard and with aggro, but very little off-the-ball or sneaky hits.
the players seem to have far more respect for their opponents and the umpires.

Even rugby league here, they used to belt the suitcases out of each other for fun. NRL changed that by automatic sin bin and then tribunal and it instantly stopped, completely changed the culture by enforcing it.
