On the couch

Some dot points for those who don't have pay tv. Thought it a pretty lacklustre interview. Don't agree in the slightest it was attack Trent at all costs Tommo. Would actually have liked them to ask Trent about his own form, especially his disposal.

[list type=decimal]
[*]A lot to be learnt
[*]Was a big build up
[*]Our training wasn't a standard we'd like during the week. Has been addressed by the leadership group
[*]We didn't control the game when the opportunities arose
[*]We didn't dominate in the figures and stats we wanted to
[*]DH was not angry. He was disappointed
[*]We gave ourselves a good chance to take on a top 4 side
[*]Game has been reviewed and will take it on board for Freo game. Excited about it
[*]Idolises Ablett. Consistent possessions and effect
[*]Admires Selwood's leadership and impact
[*]Selection opinions are given by leadership group but they don't make the decisions
[*]Floss consistent in VFL. Doing everything right. Whether this week or next he'll get his chance. Took control of group and showed leadership on training camp
[*]Called Granpa by teammates cos he's a homebody. Got Peter Alexander slippers
[*]Need lots of rotations to keep Dusty fresh
[*]There's a lot of expectations on TV. Supporters don't know what he does for the team. Selfless player. Like to see more big contested marks. Similar size to ruckmen. Expect his best when mature around 24-25
[*]Likes extra onfield responsibility as captain and pressure to perform to best of ability.
[*]Backline had discussion about game. Rance was disappointed with his previous form and asked to play on Cloke. Wanted to show he was capable of taking on the best. Good job till half time considering lack of Tiger pressure

They had a Richmond player on the show and they were showing & questioning him about collingwood game plans and about swan.
And he screwed them with the comment " it didn't work for him in the first half" or something on those lines.
Loved it, Sheehan didn't have any more to say.
At least Healy asks constructive questions and makes positive statements.

Cheers rosy.

Thanks Rosy and Zips, i'll IQ the replay of the show and then i can fast forward to the interview.

I found the comment about training not being up to scratch quite astounding. Do they think they're millionaires already?
Glad we got a dose of reality in that case. Looong way to go yet.
This is the challenge for the coach and the leadership group. A few wins and players rest on their laurels? In round 4??

Maybe the players got caught up in the hype. We had a bloody band at training and 5000 people there on Thursday. Ridiculous.

Agreed. A band at training? Gee whiz that is interesting at round 4. Achieved nothing yet. Pull back a win against a quality dockers side in Perth and we might be going places. Lyon loves coaching against us though....

I'm surprised that your surprised....we were singing our anthem against Geelong in the preliminary final in 95 when we were 70 pts down

It was a DJ and there wouldn't have been 1000. And it was Friday. Apart from that, spot on.

so he DIDNT state the players choose who they want to play as some
alluded to, thanks for clearing that up...

sometimes people hear what they want to hear.

There's a lesson here - don't trust everything you read on PRE!

I watched the show - and can assure you that wasn't the tone of the intervew at all. Indeed it was pretty damn good.

Some fantastic honesty/refection by Chimp (re training standards) rather than the usual rehearsed blah blah blah. Likewise (it was obvious) that he wasn't ready to fawn all over Swan.

It was a relatively short interview - but insightful.

Chimp is a person of true class/character. :clap

The room went quiet after that. ;D

Get into em Cotchy.

Well if they did that is the challenge for the leaders and coaches to keep their focus.
Have said it before that the biggest challenge for our club to play finals are the mental hurdles we have to jump.
There has not been genuine success at our club for a long long time and few even know what it looks like.
Dimma does fortunately but not many of our list do. Getting carried a way with a few early wins against bottom 8 teams and expecting it all to happen is a trap I hope we don't fall into.
We've beaten no one of substance yet. Hype? More like tripe.
Switch on Tiges!

Media are such a joke they jump on and off teams week in week out.

Don't think that applied in Trent's interview.

(Was posting the following for a new thread but just noticed similar comments here)

Our performance on Saturday and Trent's comments make me wonder if we got a bit ahead of ourselves based on our first 3 wins. Party atmosphere at training. Attempts to manufacture tribal crowd support. A belief we were ready to take on the top 4 teams and media comments about how we'll do it. The fact training sessions this week were poor is very disappointing. Success doesn't just happen. It takes hard work and commitment both at training and on the field.

It almost seems like finals time at Tigerland rather than the start of a season. Not much use putting the cart ahead of the horse. Heads down and bums up Tiges or we'll never experience the carnival atmosphere at the end of the season. I'd prefer to let our footy do the talking at this stage.

Agree with all that.

Seemed that way but fact is Swan had a pretty good game.

Interesting. I used to hate it when I was in trouble and someone was disappointed with me rather than just being angry. Seemed like it used to stick with you longer. I use it with my kids when all other avenues are exhausted. ;D

How about the flying back hander :hihi
