On the couch

You can even have a case that Geelong isn't that good, how many times can you come from 6 goals down to win a game.
I beat Carlton beat them.
And why are all our wins described as being "scrappy"
You can raise a case on all winning sides this weekend, besides essendon.

No mention of who played well or the reigning Coleman medallist kicking 7?!!?!!

Of course Sheahan isn't going to mention Jack.

He wouldn't want to contradict himself considering that he didn't think that Jack was going to be in the top 50 footballers at years end.

I don't know what RFC did to Roos or Sheehan but these clowns only pay the barest if lip service to Richmond.
They spoke about freo v essendon next week before they mentioned anything about Richmond.
Gave 10 seconds literally on Richmond. No mention of who played well or the reigning Coleman medallist kicking 7?!!?!!!

Sheehan commented that we'd basically proven nothing if we are 3-0 after this week until we play vollingwood then they moved on.

What a joke!

Hope we smash collingwood now, a la 95 round 4 against north!!

I don't know why people are upset they aren't pumping us up. When we do get pumped up everyone gets upset there is undue pressure, but when they don't talk about us people are annoyed? I don't get it.

I reckon it's good people aren't giving us any respect. I'd rather be flying under the radar. We don't need idiots like David King telling us we are "top 4 certainties".

To be honest why should the media be giving us any respect? Both our wins were not overly convincing or impressive. We were lucky to win against Carlton with them missing so many sitters late in the game, and we barely scrapped over the line against a side that has openly admitted they are aging and re-building.

Until we can consistently beat some quality sides, I see no reason why the media should be pumping us up.

Once bitten twice shy.

The media are right to be wary at this stage. We may be 2-0 but apart from the second quarter against Carlton i reckon we have been good to middling. If we come and beat a Collingwood or Geelong they will change their tune....if not then the doubts will remain and rightly so IMO.

Caro is going after goose Lyon. Are you getting involved again? Are you happy with appointments you made?
Why is Cameron swab still there? Blah blah
Suck on a cheese sandwich mr Lyon :banana :birthday :happy :upside :boldyellow

;D

Hey Paul Roos at least we only played the worst 47 seconds in footy as opposed to the worst 4 quarters. :spin

Agree, but just an acknowledgement that we continue to head in the right direction would be nice. Rarely is there any middle ground with the media's treatment of Richmond.

Implicit in Sheean's comment is that we haven't beaten anybody which is patently false. If there's any team that comment should be thrown at its Essendon.

Reinforcement (of our current path) would be nice but not unhappy at being unnoticed/dismissed atm. We’ll be on the radar next week, either way. Another similar outcome v Bulldogs while playing within ourselves, ok by me as we hopefully build towards bigger future challenges.

‘On the Couch’ crew sing from the same hymn book each week re their analysis, regardless of results. AFL 360 usually better, though Robinson simpering to Mark Thompson each Monday is fast becoming unwatchable.

they pumped our tyres up last year before the season started.
They might be waiting until we actual do something this time around.

Caro had it right on 3aw re the media siliene "How sweet it is!"

I reckon north have been given an easy ride, sure they've had a tough draw, but it wouldn't stop the media being all over us if we were 0-2 and let a 41 point lead slip.

Interesting also the the Magpies win over Calton was huge, but our win has been dismissed.

That said, much better this way than the media pumping us up prematurely, ala Essendon the perennial front runners.

We really need to pull off the Bulldogs game then the pure maths of 0-3 starts to become significant.

A win against the dogs will see us going into Pies game 3-0, and thus the media will be pumping up the big game. Therefore it will have nothing to do with who we will/hopefully beat this week, just the simple fact that we would be the marquee game for Round 4.

And yes, they will be setting us up for a fall.

Nothing better than flying under the radar. People overanalyse games at this early part of the year. All that matters is getting the win and hopefully staying healthy. We don't need the media's support. Just keep winning and that is satisfying enough for me.

While I am of the opinion that Adelaide will miss the 8, the teams that have really beaten no one are the Swans and Port.

No media acknowlegment of Richmond means only one thing, RICHMOND ARE WINNING and that my friend's is the best acknowlegment of all, but when we lose our first game the media will come at us all guns blazing, we will be the talk of all the monday footy shows, Roos will dine out on us, nothing's more certain.

Did you see the game? Adelaide were beyond woeful.

More than happy to fly under the radar. We normally complain that the media are focusing on us too much and now we're complaining that they're not focusing enough.

I'd rather be the Swans of last year who went through the early part of the season without much attention yet they won the flag. Happy for someone elae to be the Bombers or Blues of last year who went from Premiership favorites to finishing outside the 8

LET us fly under the radar.. a massive 4 weeks coming up..must get over the dogs..but then the triple whammy collingwould, freo and geelong..massive games...glad to have the media keep a lid on things until we get thru the next month....beleive me if we beat colling would theyll be all over us
