Two huge signings rumoured for Monday 28th June with immediate effect:-

Mark Gasnier returns to Dragons.
Brett Finch to Wests Tigers
Gaz deal done. Other rumour appears to have been unfounded. Finchy would have made a huge difference to Tigers in remainder of their 2010 campaign.

Right thing to do too..... he does owe them for giving him another chance when it all went sour at the Eels.

He may also be hanging onto a slim hope that he can remain with the Storm next year.

Report on Storm salary cap scandal expected to be released this week.Expect the report to mention several players were aware of the rorts.

The word in the media is that the salary cap cheating was TWICE what was originally thought. Maybe they will take future premierships off us too!

at least now its all done. we can finally start re-signing players and move onto 2011

be interesting to see what happens next for the rest of the clubs now. we are far from alone, but the way the GC issue is being ignored is a joke

Agree

good article in the Age today, signs are promising we may be able to keep Cronk/Smith/Slater/GI

raise in the cap, allowance of third parties, and increase in marquee allowance will mean a few hundred thou less to cut

the exit list is growing too

Hoffman, Tandy, and Tolman are gone

Lima, Finch, and White are looking likely to go

looks like Gallop's plan ain't working either, sounds like most will be exiting the NRL, which is exactly what this farce of a season was designed to avoid (keep them in the NRL even if it means Storm cannot go below the cap)

All blowing up now in Presser.
Punishments will stand as breaches well over(believed 80%) initial NRL investigations.
Matter now in hands of police.

no great surprises to be honest

players not implicated, although he had a cry about players and the independant board members not co-operating (although given the News agenda I wouldn't be co-operating either)

independant directors sacked, and they basically accused them of condoning cheating with their court action - this will get fun real quick

SEN doing their usual thing, KB asking if the Storm have a future

My inital reaction is Storm should retain 2007 title but definitely lose 2009 title.I still maintain this years punsihment was too harsh.Instead the Storm should have had their points stripped & be given 3 weeks to get themselves under the cap. Then they would have something to play for & fans had something to cheer for when the club would have been able to play for points.Very disappointed with Waldron who was in charge while these rorts were going on.

100% agree

of course if that happened, the offloaded players would have gone to union, UK, and France

instead Gallop forced the club to play for nothing with an illegal team all season, so when it ends the players can go to.......union, UK, and France

Exactly,not much foresight from Gallop

The Storm playing roster has started it cull with Hoffman,Lima & Finch signing with Wigan. On top of that Inglis is likely to go to the Broncos. That should slice a fair bit off next year's salary cap.

This was in the SMH today:

Departed
Ryan Hoffman (Wigan) - $250,000
Jeff Lima (Wigan) - $250,000
Aiden Tolman (Bulldogs) - off contract
Ryan Tandy (Bulldogs) - off contract
Brett Finch (Wigan) - off contract
Total saving - $500,000

Potential departures
Greg Inglis (Brisbane, Gold Coast) - $660,000
Brett White (Canberra) - $300,000
Anthony Quinn (Huddersfield, Wigan) - $290,000
Adam Blair (Warriors) - $220,000
Sika Manu (Cowboys, Knights) - $200,000*
Kevin Proctor (Cowboys) - $100,000*
Dane Nielsen (Sharks) - off contract
Potential saving - $1.77 million

looking like we may hold Inglis - Storm will not pay the gap (Broncos only want to play $400k). They are getting 3rd party money from the FOGS, but still a ways to go.

Matt Hansen said he warned a couple of News Ltd board members of the salary cap breaches in February.News Ltd have grubby hands over this as do the NRL but they'll both get away with it as they run the game & there is no independent commission.

not surprisingly Fairfax are running hard with this

more demands too for the Deloittes review to be made public, given Hansen's and News Corps clear differences on what his testimony was to the audit.

The Deloittes review must be made public.
