Yound NZ player Sonny Fai feared dead after being taken by a current when trying to help his brother who had got into trouble.Terrible tragedy for the everyone concerned over there.

Welcome news R Farah signed a new deal to stay a Tiger until 2013 . Coach Sheens confirms Farah will be the new club captain Farah also making noises recently about recruiting plans/direction....Wouldn't mind him sharing any information as the clubs recruiting since the 2005 premiership has been disappointing,to say the least. ...Wonder if/how all this may influence Marshall in considerations of his future ?......Encouragement to stay with a supposed mate (s) or has it compromised WT's salary cap to be able to accommodate Marshall ? Indications he's inclined to switch to R Union in 2010

Glad to see Farrah is staying,Titans will now have to grovell to Nathan Friend after missing out on Farrah & Smith.

Great news for the Combine.

Farah will finally grasp the #9 for NSW this year you would think as long as he stays fit.

Former Panther junior and Premiership Wests Tigers centre Shane Elford returned to Penrith this season.

Good to see some players coming back from superleague Trent Barret, Michael Devere, Brad Meyers last year, some others.

Rumors still around the likes of Pat Richards, Todd Carney, Tim Smith and Mark McLinden may yet return to NRL ranks also.

Carney has only signed a 1 year deal so l doubt he will stay in the UK.

Tigers said to be sniffing around Carney for 2010 as potential cover for Marshall if the latter moves on.

Greg Bird has been released from the Sharks & cannot play in the NRL IN 2009.i guess he'll head over to the UK & get an early pension before he trys to return to the NRL IN 2010.

Rumors abounding already linking Canterbury with Bird for 2010 and another club which i cannot recall right now.

Hey Jubey as a Tigers fan what ya reckon of Gareth Ellis 's signing from UK.

Apparantly the guys gonna prove a revelation in the second row and is gonna be a very good acquisition alongside Chris Heyington who i reckon is a wonderful workhorse for the Tiges.

Greg Bird off to UK Superleague for nesxt season ......... no surprises there.

Damn shame for him and the Sharkies that he imploded he alone wouldve helped push the Sharkies for a top 3 spot in 09 no worries imo with Gallen, Barrett, Seymour, Covell, Ross, Pommeroy, Tupou and Kearney.

Sharks will still have an impact in 09 for mine though.

Losing DeGois will hurt to, as Corey Hughes aint the player Isaac has grown into to.

Nathan Fien re signed with the Warriors today for 09.

Will have a battle for the #7 with Stacey boy Jones on his return.

Might have to settle for the #6.

Didn't Fien want a release to the UK?

Two more NRL names have left heir clubs.

Amos Roberts has been let go by the Roosters to play in the UK (surprise surprise) and Shannon Hegarty also been released by Bunnies.

The exodus to the UK and Rugby is going to kill the standard of the NRL

Just looking at the amount of Islander and Kiwis in the playing ranks looks to me that NRL is fast becoming a game where Aussie players are becoming less and less prominant with the size and power of the Polynesian boys a major factor in their dominance of Forward positions.

This will flow onto junior ranks with such a large preportion of islander kids playing now Aussie kids wont play as they cant match the Polynesian Boys size and strength and parents wont allow their kids to play in fear of lil Johnny getting bashed up which to n extent is more likely as Polynesian boys are stronger and bigger even at early teens.

On a number of levels beneath the surface Rugby League is in a bit of strife i reckon.

A similiar thing has been happening in New Zealand for some time now ,with the polynesians, and it is now emerging in Australia,

In New Zealand it has been a problem for over a decade now, more so in rugby union, the bigger polynesian boys have been forcing the smaller white kids out of the sport at junior level, more and more of these kids are looking at sports like soccer where they wont get bashed around, and are usually lost forever.

I recenty had a conversation with Alan Langer, he talked about his young son, who has a bit of talent in league, but is finding it difficult with the amount of huge polynesians in the game, he spoke about the difficulties your average white aussie kid now has in Qld and NSW , it is like playing against kids two years older, and the kids are'nt enjoying it and are dropping out.

Yep and the game will be poorer for it.

No kids playing means the game will die a slow death.

Losing heros and superstars from the NRL when the go to Euro Rugby and UK Superleague will also lead to a waning of interest.

Hope the NRL are not comfortable with where they are at.

The re introduction of the North Sydney Bears to the Central Coast is a must imo to garner more interest in the game and bring more $$ especially in the Central Coast heartland.

Bring on the Northern Bears. Itd be great to see the Red Black and Whites on the field again.

The fact that the NRL is without such great traditional clubs in Western Suburbs, Balmain Ryde and North Sydney is a joke.

Thats what happens when they tried to expand the game when the economical position was crap not long out of recession.
