Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

He’s really raw but with Riewoldt out & things happening in game like Astbury getting injured, he provides flexibility. Rance’s first 50 games weren’t flash either. Balta will be fine - just needs AFL games.

We’d lose that flexibility if they played Soldo or Coleman-Jones or even Moore.

Spot on. Soldo is a one trick pony and not that good. CCJ not ready. Moore is not up to it IMHO.

The sooner we get 40 to 50 games into this bloke the better. With his size and athleticism he can be an absolute match winner in multiple positions Expect him to make a big step forward by year end

Can’t learn that in the VFL

Agreed. Have to persevere.

NFI mate, go & watch some of our ressies footy & you will change your min

About who? All 3? I’ve seen Soldo and Moore at AFL level and I don’t see them as long term AFL players.

CCJ has plenty of time to develop. The point is that I’d rather Balta in the AFL than any of the others at this point in time. Also reckon he’s a better chance of being a long term AFL player than Soldo or Moore and will benefit from continued exposure at AFL level.

Too early to make that same call in comparison to CCJ who from all reports is coming along nicely.

Balta was only seen as an investment into the future coming into 2019. He's already lived up to our expectations in terms of those long-term goals IMO.

What about the now? In September our list is likely to have at least 3-4 more options available for selection. To be brutally honest, Balta's form in April is simply not good for our short-term goal of winning the 2019 premiership, yet.

However, if we commit to him for 20 games, the version we'll get for finals will be better than the version we see today. It might be good enough to earn selection with a healthy list. This is where Jack's injuries give us a free hit at seeing how quickly Balta can improve in the early part of this year. If he improves quickly enough, we just might stick with him for the entire season.

What signs does Balta need to show for us to commit 100% to playing him every week so he's more experienced come finals?

VFL form doesn’t always translate to being serviceable at AFL level. Some players just aren’t up to it.

It can also go the other way... Stacky wasn’t doing much at VFL, but has shown he’s a bonafide AFL star in the making.

Agree mate. Your got more chance then Soldo & Moore

Don’t know who is Melbourne second ruck but Balta our played him.
Just need to keep playing him.
Forward, back, ruck
He’ll end up being a very good swing man when needed.

Tim Smith was Melbourne’s second ruck playing his first game of the year.
Neither 2nd ruck had much of an impact on the game.

Time for Noah, (Adonis), Balta to impact a game, you can only survive on good looks, chiselled body and athletic supremacy for so long ;).

Doing a role but time for something more.

Have to agree with this. He's being given every chance but not having a big impact so far. Bit of a tease. Might just click all of a sudden.

Bit harsh there mate, he’s only played 5 games.

And in those 5 games he has played 52, 94, 43, 58, 61 TOG% in each game. The 94% for the GWS game was when Short injured his elbow in the first quarter and didn't play the rest of the game.

Balta will get better with more games and he should get more games while Riewoldt is out. He is trying to do everything at 100mph. just needs to back that off a bit and control the times he hits top speed.

Disagree.

He gives us structure.

Like Kmac, but different

Deceptively important in us being 4:2 during an injury tsumami IMO
