Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

I can only see Lynch rucking part time in the forward line, no other situation is logical.

So, who's the relieving ruck? Balta is looking the best prospect especially given he can also play elsewhere when Nank is rucking which is most of the game.

He's only 19 so maybe needs more time, but I'd put him in the team for a few rounds and see how he goes. Don't expect him to set the world on fire from his first game, give him time to develop, give him a role he can play now and expand his role as he gains experience. If he plays his role and expands what he can do he never goes back to the VFL.

If his role is 3rd key forward then its a case of making contests and looking dangerous.
Compared to the glorious 2017, the forward talls have changed from Jack, Caddy and Towner to Jack, Big Tom and Notorious Noah.
Dusty to sidle into forward town occasionally.
No offence to C and T but its an offensive force to behold

Noah has versatility.

He doesn't have to play forward at all.

I would like to see him on the wing and given a bit of free rein when not chopping out in the ruck.

I agree - he can start on the wing .... and pinch hit where ever else he might be required.

The thought of him striding down the wing ....

I hope JR hates him?

If he plays it is not on the wing.
We use Grigga Macca Ellis as endurance animals who know the positioning and defensive support - the key trait is hard running within team structures.
Balta plays as a 3rd tall, slightly loose, providing a contest and occasional thrills.

First game up, Noah! (you n me Lord) plays premium off the interchange. Kids to inexperienced n unseasoned to claim a place all his own just yet. Run him as a weapon of the bench ( virtually all players rotate nowadays anyway ) Nank needs a breather, fling Noah into the ruck. Lynch mob or Jaaack needs a breather up forward, drop Noah into the forward line n create another variation. Mid field areas not quite working out, we need a beast size or someone needs a spell, Dusty rotates forward etc. there's another task for Balta. Kids got all sorts of eye watering capabilities yet he's nowhere near established as a player in any role at the moment. Don't pigeon hole him just yet or load an expectation of him carrying a role all game, just rotate him through n let him unleash as he sees fit.

Very good point TD.

I wanted him on the wing 'till i read it

Wouldn't mind another runner in the side.

It's a shame we'll have to choose out of Ellis, Markov and Menadue.

Is this a compliment or a disguised “pull your head in, Noah” from the coach: “He's quite funny on the field. We sit there and constantly amuse ourselves, where he's telling other players what to do when he's actually not doing the right thing himself a lot of the time. But that's him learning the game. What we love is that he's got the confidence to do that, which is something we generally have to teach a young player“

A very sensible suggestion, I reckon that would be great for a young player and he can develop, learn and we learn what he is best at.

Lots of upside to this.

Will be a little disappointed if he doesn't play. Wouldn't want to be back up only to Lynch, Jack and Nank.
