Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

I reckon he could be out best bet as a second ruck without losing to much running power.

I think he’ll be the first option as the support for Nank and a swingman “mr fixit” as his flexibility suits this role. It will be at the expense of Broad.

Is training with the forwards, would make a potent forward line with Jack and Lynch.
The Eagles premiership side had 4 talls Kennedy, Darling, Vardy and Lycett, i wonder whether we are looking at going with a taller set up.
Not sure whether Balta has the conditioning play forward and 2nd ruck, but it's something that i would eventually like to see.

Early doors, but at training Balta has had a couple of one on one rucking sessions with Maric, haven't noticed the forward move yet he did not participate in the game simulation on Thursday.

Dont think it will be Broad he replaces , Broad when in form does a brilliant job in playing on the 3rd tall or a small whilst also running the other way offensively

Grigg & Houli are starting to have injuries and will probably miss 10-12 games between them and brandon Ellis is starting to become a liability just hope he improves as i see him leaving at the end of 2019 as a free agent s well as conca having left.

If Balta has his fitness up then he will get games specially against teams like the Eagles , Crows & Pies

Cheers caesar, i was just going off the AFL site. How's he looking, has he bulked up much.

Balta just about had Rances body size last year so can't really tell in that department, his growth will come from improved game sense, consistency and how to better use his strength and power as he is a powerful unit. First raining session he stood out on Thursday he seemed on lighter duties, the serious stuff should start this week with the older boys back.

I think his best position this season will prove to be right wing. He has the speed and is a beautiful kick probably the longest kick on our list. Nank will play a kick behind and Noah will ruck when the ball goes forward.

I would love to see him play this position particularly in the early days.

I'll try to ignore your baseless insults and keep to the topic because, unlike you, I prefer to play the ball and not the man
Using your logic, Garthwaite is a utility too, because he can't possibly be groomed as a KP defender atm?? He may as well pack up now!
If you had watched Balta play games live, rather than snippets on the TV for our 2 only televised games, you will have noted that Balta only backed up in the ruck in tandem with Soldo or Callum Jones or Chol, when no one else was available through injury. Other than that he predominately played CHB and played his best football there. He also played forward but, as others have stated, he didn't adapt as well as some would have hoped but there's plenty of time for future development in that regards.
Everyone who thinks he can ruck or play wing are pontificating with an assumption that he is an endurance type player. Do you have Draft Camp results to support your argument? Because wingers and rucks have elite endurance and that is something you can only improve on but are not necessarily born with. Balta can replace Broad atm but I'm sticking with my crystal ball that he is a long term KP defender and will probably continue to learn his craft in the VFL under Fly. CCJ the next ruck forward in my "Zipps" style humble opinion

BTW, Richo was an endurance beast, which allowed him to play the wings. Rance is another that can play up field because of his endurance ability.

Thought I'd just bide my time on this one and see what would be revealed in time. But now is the time or close.

Firstly what baseless insults are you referring to? You posted this, didn't you?

"And some on here think he's a ruckman!! :rofl :rofl :rofl
Don't know about you, but I'm not driving my Ferrari in one of Easy's paddocks! ( as manicured as they are )"

I also specified why I found it insulting. And it is insulting as being proven by fact. Not that you have had the grace to admit or acknowledge it. But back to the rebuttals. Garth is a more limited player; playing almost entirely down back at VFL, unlike Balta. (You'd think someone who claims to watch so many games would know). He's played forward in Juniors but probably lacks the explosiveness to do so at AFL level most likely. I watched large parts of the televised games and (forgot to add) of the streamed matches on our website too, so really object to your patronising insults. I saw plenty of Balta's potential, simply unable to see many full games live, which can affect your awareness of his endurance with seeing bench-time, defensive running etc. Still a sharper observer than you anyway.

If it's true Balta mostly played CHB at VFL, and found CHF harder, so what. Has always been that way. CHF is the hardest position on the field; that's why only the best players can succeed there. Good way for a young KPF to develop their game from CHB. If you had have just done some research earlier on this thread you'd see this post from Bullus: "He ran a 13.4 beep, that would be on par with Cripps when he was drafted." So that's reasonable endurance for a young KPF/utility. Another BLS references to his being "a natural forward ..." Turk agreed, Scoop saying he has real potential as a mobile ruck and so on; comments on his potential as a mid, never limited as just a backman.

Lo and behold, RFC have officially stated Balta is training with the forwards, and a couple of Caesar's training reports describe how he is competing in the ruck drills. Funnily enough, wasn't it your very own post (forget now) that claimed he's grown to 196 cm? Making what even more likely? Didn't see you admit it though.

So maybe he's not going to push Rance or Astbury out of the back line right away after all? It will be interesting to see how Balta progresses next season and when and if he makes his debut. Then how he is used, in what role. But I'll back my previous posts; supported by the evidence thus far ... but early days.

And one other thing, stop patronising others with comments such as: "BTW, Richo was an endurance beast, which allowed him to play the wings. Rance is another that can play up field because of his endurance ability." Oh really! We all needed you to tell us this, having watched their entire careers. As an 18 year old in his first season, Balta's endurance looks quite promising. BTW, Rance has rarely ever played 'up field.'

Always enjoy your read Jack, but you’re hearing wrong.
For anyone who enjoys hearing inner sanctum insights directly from coaches and recruiters, do yourself a favour and join Club 80. Worth every cent.
Balta being groomed in defence atm.

Well, Jack, you should have realised you Cant Argue with Dont Argue. He has the inside knowledge and contacts ... from the inner sanctum! You lack the ' insights.'

Hold on! Noah Balta is officially announced by the club to be training with the forwards and doing repeated ruck drills at training. :spin :spin

Wouldn't hold your breath for an apology though, Jack. Because you Cant Argue with Dont Argue ... He has ...

Club actually hasn’t come out and said it moron. Someone from AFL said it. And Caesar has reported that he hasn’t started training forward.
And Garth actually rucked in the pre season comp and did really well and was a very accomplished junior forward so he’s actually not as limited as your imagination. He’s probably not explosive. Classic definitive comment. Probably according to you?
As for you being a keener observer of football, what a joke. You’re a Hampson loving sniper. Nothing more, nothing less.
You should have kept biding your time instead of coming on here during one of your bipolar episodes. Keep watching the tv and eating your pop corn. You’re clueless.
Oh and try contributing something actually worthwhile for once ( if you actually had something interesting to say ) rather than attacking others opinions.
And please take your tongue out of Jack’s, Bully’s and Scoop’s ass. They actually knows how to discuss things amicably without resorting to tirades.

Not looking to put myself in the middle of an argument but yes it was an AFL.com.au reporter that said Balta was going to spend the summer training with the forwards, not sure if the club told them this or it was their observation. So far i cannot determine whether the club is planning to play Balta forward, back or other but I can say from the 1st couple of sessions is that he has had a couple one on one rucking drills with Maric so a Grigg relief ruck type role could be in their plans?.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story Caesar! :hihi
Any chance you can invite him to the London? He might learn something. Just don't let him drink!

But I thought you didn't trade in insults!? Clearly showing your true nature now. Nothing but insults really.

I'd trust the AFL reporter more than your 'insights from the inner sanctum ...' :clap
You simply reek of inflated self-importance. Telling everyone about Richo and Rance's endurance as if you were the only one who ever saw them play. Now you're lecturing me about Garth, again telling me what I already know. Any player may be tried in another position but Garth is a next-in-line KPD as his selection for Astbury when injured showed. Balta will be able to be used in different roles and I believe that's where he'll commence his career, even if potentially he may become established as a KPD in years to come. It will all depend on how he performs whether introduced into a midfield (including ruck support) or forward role, or a blend, even a swingman.

So you have to resort to mentioning poor old Hammer. Like any debate, there was a whole context to it. Just totally irrelevant here except to demonstrate how desperate you are to fling another insult because your pompous arrogance was challenged. Next you insult people who suffer from the tragic illness of being bipolar - again of no relevance whatsoever but to further prove you actually are a fount of baseless insults with no regard for unfortunate sufferers' sensitivities.

Finally, excelling yourself, you resort to vulgarity. I simply directed you to actually look through the early pages of this thread to find plain evidence of Balta's endurance capacity, since endorsed by other posters, and his athletic capabilities along with comments on his junior career and aptitude for playing ruck, mid or forward supported by junior coach comments etc.

Gee, I'm so lucky you are so amicable and don't resort to tirades!! It's pretty easy to spot who the moron is. :spin

So you edited Caesar's post, omitting and ignoring his opening point!

Then you also omitted 'I can say from the 1st couple of sessions is that he has had a couple one on one rucking drills with Maric so a Grigg relief ruck type role could be in their plans?" Another inconvenient truth?

Anyone on PRE is welcome to attend the Tavern as I understood it. Or did you think it was only for those with 'insights from the inner sanctum' ?
As I've posted several times, unfortunately I work Sat arvos at present. But I'm actually close by. Might just be able to drop in late. But I'll be stone cold sober initially. You should hang around, would enjoy bumping into you.

Nothing to do with inner sanctum. Not sure you’d past the good bloke test

That's exactly what I'm telling you firstly. You are a clear fail in the GBT regard going on that post of yours using Bi-Polar disorder to demean opinions you can't handle.

Hey fella's I enjoy a good debate along with many others here but the name calling and demeaning of fellow posters does nothing for the debate.

Expressing opinion is fine as long as it is understood that is what it is.

Introducing facts to build your debate is good but when the facts don't back up your debate it doesn't have to be personal if you get it wrong.

We all make mistakes.
