Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

I’m trying to think of a way to get this kid into the side, another tall could be just what we need against sides like WC and Port who took advantage of our lack of a second ruck.

I was relatively nonplussed by his forward line work last weekend, but I was equally excited by his ruck work and those searching runs down the wing, something he seems to be making a habit of lately.

It occurred to me that his current skill set mostly matches that of Ben Griffiths, not a lot of natural forward smarts, but he’s got a big body, a big leap and big boot on him.

Ben did his best work leading up to the wing, taking a mark before playing on and kicking it 60 meters into the forward line. Noah has similar attributes and could be a really useful second ruck for those teams that have totally figured out the Grigg fiasco. Love to see Balta tried out in a role similar to Ben when he was at his most useful.

If the coaches think he is ready and has the tank to play that role, i'd love to see it.

Great to see Noah take three contested marks on Saturday, it's a great skill to have. The games i've seen him play he has looked better in the backline, but with his kicking and marking how good would it be if he could play forward.

He had mitts like Stewie Lowe in his junior highlight reel.

I havnt seen him play yet, but am dreaming of a Westhoff/Cripps style huge utility.

Nope. Think Matthew Pavlich. We have a generational player as long as he doesn’t get carried away.
Wouldn’t swap him for Raynor

Very very early days, but the 2017 draft of Higgins, Balta, CCJ, Naish and Miller could well be the best draft since Cotchin and Rance and before that Jack R and Edwards, and with our list profile now would be the perfect time to nail a draft.

Edited to correct error.

agree with the premise.

but rance was drafted in the same year as cotch.
dusty is with griffiths and astbury.

Freo grabbed Nat Fyfe after Griffiths.

Grimes was our preseason pick.

Dusty, Astbury and Grimes.
Not shabby.

I used to hate how WC would throw him forward for the last quarter in desperation and he'd pull a win out of his arse.

Very good swing player. Head like a sucked mango.
