Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Gee he seems exciting. Backline is looking pretty stacked with Garthwaite also looking to push through, but VFL watchers can he play on a wing at AFL level?

I'd be more inclined to think HBF, SKev. Even more inclined to let him get a kick in the twos for another month at least.

Probably wise, particularly when he seems a little positionless at the moment. Would not be a bad thing to keep giving him a few different roles at VFL level.

Still convinced he’s a backman.

Looks a little lost running at the ball as opposed to running at the ball and going in a straight line at goal.

Yep. I was hoping he could fill that ruck/forward position but he is a natural back.

Half way through the third quarter junior talls CJ and Ben Miller were totally gassed. Could not get out of a canter. At one stage CJ missed a four metre handball target because he couldn't get the distance.

It was about that time that Noah Balta got warmed up. Has a natural tank. That's a head start.

Should be getting games into him and Carthwaite.
You could play Balta instead of Conca, Menadue or Ellis
You could play Carthwaite instead of Astbury, Conca, Menadue, Grigg, Ellis
Time to see these kids on the G not on cow paddocks

Not a lot of competition yesterday in the ruck, but I didn’t see him beaten once, he belted it 10 meters forward every contest. At the very least he needs to play against West Coast and possibly Port. Any team that has beaten us up in the ruck while Nank has been resting, he needs to play.

Carthwaite appears to have assumed Griffens' position.

Garthwaite could play Astbury s role now when needed.
Balta is still a bit untidy .
He needs to play CHB every week in the vfl and learn a Rance type role.
He could pinch hit as an interchange second ruck and wing half back back up at present .

Forwards always struggle for consistency, just have to look at McCartin to realise how difficult it is to hit the elite level. The more games he gets the more comfortable he will become. He's not a deep forward by the way, more a Jarrad Waite style high half forward.

It was a very tough match physically - Townsend and Balta thrived on the tough contest.

And arrogance and presence.
agreed Craig.
I just felt that Noah needs to get with the game plan a bit more before getting a senior game.

That incredible run down the wing was exceptional when he ran away from the chaser but....
when he reached the end of the run, rather than looking for the open player inside, he looked and then simply blazed away at the goals.
The arrogance of the run was great, the arrogance of just blazing was junior stuff.
Would rather he was too arrogant than too timid though.

Redan the only free player was 40 mt out on the other side of the ground, it would have taken an awesome kick to reach him.
