Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Persist as a forward - needs to play higher up leading and marking on the wings. Started off well then was too preoccupied manning allir

You know what this late season positional shuffle says to me?
We aint gonna recruit or draft a tall forward.

Young Young played Balta's backline position well with few problems so maybe he stays as a forward or utility
Port were missing the majority of their tall forward line, Dixon, Marshall, Georgiadis (most of the season). I'm still not convinced we can afford Balta out of the backline. Before this week, our backline has been woeful for weeks.

Still torn on where he should play.

But even on a down day he took 4 marks inside 50, equal most on the ground.

Him playing second banana to Tom does have some appeal.

Smasheroonied was Balta. God I hope Lynch is fit next year.
Nonsense. If we had more of the pressure that Noah has been able to bring up forward since moving there (only half way through the north game), we
would have seen much more play in our forward line, than we have.
This will be unpopular but those complaining about his performance don't seem to recognise how badly we did by leaving the role to Jack, who was pretty much cooked before the season began.

To preserve Lynch we need to play him out of the square and balta high half forward. We should be looking for another key back to help young with the big key forwards through free agency or the the state leagues.

Sure hope not The way I see it it’s just Mini Dimma trying to impress and stay competitive in games
We must bring in a tall forward either by trade or draft

I think Balta us a lot better in the backline buy we will need to play him forward if we can't recruit anyone else. At least he can consistently compete unlike Bauer, Miller and Ryan at the moment. We have some coverage down back but none forward.

He's a unique player. Alir moved him too easily at times. At others he looked unstoppable.

As you suggest with Lynch attracting the major heat Balta could be a weapon forward.

Yeah it's why we went hard at Himmelberg. You can see what we were trying to do structure wise.

you would hope, with a full preseason, and regular inseason training as a forward, Balta would improve. But i fear yesterday is what we would get regardless. Some flashes of (near) brilliance, and ok results.
But we are moving a guy who for a while was looking like an AA full back- dominating in the air and nullifying key forwards.

While there could be a lot to gain, there is definitely a lot to lose.

Thats the type of thing I'm seeing too.

I'm still in the Balta is a backman camp, those brainfades we see from him should be worked through with him to reduce the amount we see (he will still have some as he's an aggressive defender) but moving him off their number 1 forward (Young or Gibcus will come in and do that) will allow him to be more aggressive and rebound the ball out of our backline.

Also as others have stated - kick the ball LONG Noah. No short kicks.

Well, I dunno if he should play up front or down back, but if he plays up front I don’t see him improving our goal accuracy that’s for sure.

(We are last in the AFL at an average of 44.6%).

He can take a grab so there's that. I also like his physicality. Not a natural football brain though.
He is an almost player.
Turns 24 next season. Sure possesses talent. Hoping like Bolton his best footy is in front of him with the new coach.
If these guys can go the next step anything is possible.
