Balta's played almost twenty-five games. He's earned a chance to go one-on-one with Tomahawk, who has been pretty much the best forward in the game over the year. (If not the best player.) Imperious and smart. Tomahawk has been a thinker this year more than ever. Brilliant.
He's bigger than Balta, more powerful, maybe nimbler, a bit more experienced. A veteran star in career-best form and sharp as a tack.
Balta has been imperious himself. At times, recently playing full back, he looks above the level. He had one bungle tonight gently resting his hand on the the neck of the bloke he was flogging. Didn't work out for the young Richmond star.
But the fury. The cold fury of Noah Balta after that was a revelation.
If we can get our 2020 game going it doesn't matter if we finish fourth or eighth. (This is a freak year.) The focus has to be on getting the game going. And if we are to beat Geelong in the big time we let Noah Balta learn or establish his position in this game.
This is a learning match. Geelong learns. Richmond learns. You see how it might be bad from a Geelong POV for Tomahawk to teach Noah Balta a lesson?
This is a huge breakout year for Noah Balta. Dimma told us square - He's been watching replays. Let the man learn.
